I will be one to admit I did not believe this would do anything to help my issues. Although my mom and sister encouraged me to try this product I was still hesitant because of my history with dairy. It has been several years since I've had milk and ice cream while minimizing my intake with other dairy products (cheese...etc) because I was literally afraid of the consequences I would face later. I am happy I tried this product, I was so scared leading to my big day ( I know it sounds crazy to you but this was an event in my home) my husband was nervous because hes my masseur when things get UGLY. if you suffer like myself I would truly advise you to give this product a try, what more can you lose? Look at me I lost several years of good strawberry, chocolate and vanilla don't let this be you!

Unfortunately, after about 1-1/2 hours I became ill (upset stomach, vomiting and diarrhea). I have tried other brands with negative results, so that's why I decided to give this product a try. This product is not for me.

My lactose intolerance has been getting worse recently so I thought I’d try lactaid pills to avoid the bad tummy and guts. The first couple of times I was fine, I felt a bit off but put it down to having had milk. Last Sunday on 12/31/23 I found myself very suddenly sick and heaving over the toilet. I thought it was food poisoning or the extreme pain I had been dealing with. Tonight I again took a lactaid pill so I could have a little bit of ice cream as I am recovering from major abdominal surgery! Couple hours later I’m again heaving but I didn't make it to the bathroom since I’m recovering from surgery and am slow! This is SO SERIOUS! And there are NO warnings on the box! I am in worse pain now and risk popping stitches because these supposedly harmless pills make people sick! I’m extremely disappointed, and disgusted, but sadly not surprised, I’m sure the company is more concerned with loss of profit by disclosing potential sickness than with the potential of causing real harm to someone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lactaid is very effective in minimizing the effects of lactose intolerance. I typically don't eat or drink much dairy but when I occasionally want to treat myself with ice cream or frozen yogurt, I will be able to with out worrying about lactose intolerance.

I have been taking the pills for years when I eat dairy products. Taking 3-4 capsules usually does the trick for me. I just have a regular bowel movement the next day. I have never vomited from taking this product. I am sorry to hear that others have. I also only drink Lactaid or non-dairy milk.

Both my kids were having a lot of gas pains, and they both drink a lot of milk (ages 12, 15). Lactaid has solved the problem for both of them. They pop one before they eat dairy (cheese, milk, ice cream) and so far, so good. To the person above who commented that Lactaid didn't help with the muffins and cake they were eating, you probably have a wheat sensitivity, not a dairy sensitivity. Lactaid is for DAIRY products, the products you mention have tons of WHEAT, but likely no dairy.

About 7 years ago I learned I was mildly lactose intolerant, so I decided to try Lactaid. My symptoms weren’t that bad to begin with, so imagine my surprise when, after taking Lactaid for the first time and eating a small amount of dairy, I experienced horrible nausea and vomiting within 2 hours. I didn’t realize the Lactaid had caused it until after I took it twice more and the same thing happened. Within 2 hours, boom — debilitating nausea and eventually vomiting. And I don’t throw up when I’m sick. Ever. It’s grossly disingenuous not to warn consumers of this potential horrific side effect, especially since it seems to happen to a decent chunk of us. Do better. And no, I will not call your 1-800 number.

I find it effective, convenient, and discreet. I would certainly recommend this product to anyone who has lactose sensitivity.
