As a dog book author, I put a great deal of thought into dogs and the food they eat. My German Husky Dog, the subject of one of my books, has been feeling great at nearly 11 years old! Over the years, I have purchased many different types of dog food and this specific real turkey and venison blend by Purina is the best. Her coat looks better, she has more energy, and it's far easier for her to chew than her previous brand. Last but not least, she loves it! She's a picky girl when it comes to food, and she literally licks the bowl clean when she is finished.

Something is definitely going on with quality control. My dogs been eating this food for years. Just received a 27.5lb bag and the kibble color, quality and texture was completely off. Looked old or spoiled. I will add a picture. The meat bits are also soggy and grayish in color.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 2 high energy Doberman Pinschers. One is a 5.5 year old female and the other is a 25 month old hyper teenage male Doberman Pinscher. The fact that there's no fillers, 30% protein and the Turkey and Venison is packed with a lot of big pieces of dehydrated turkey and venison is something they first go after. They are free feed plus they are fed dinner. Sometimes the wet version, sometimes something else. There is no gas attacks, due to no fillers, they have smaller bowel movements. They've been on it for over 8 months. Their skin, coat, nails and physically have not looked better. The male is developing perfectly and isn't starving anymore and is filling out nicely. I've always fed Purina One. Once I discovered the True Instincts line and spoke with your nutritionist, I'm satisfied that it really is a complete and nutritionally dense and tasty food appropriate for my two high energy dogs. I love it almost as much as they do.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a beautiful 8 month old Australian Shepherd/Black Lab mix. She was perfectly healthy months 1-7 while I was feeding her Blue Wilderness puppy food and Blue Buffalo towards the end. After beginning the 28 day challenge, within a week there was a noticeable difference in her looks and behavior, and not for the better. She became very itchy, and has been losing patches of fur. Her eyes have been irritated and red, and has lacked that playful puppy energy she had. She doesn’t look nearly as healthy or happy as she was a little over a month ago. Which makes me not very happy. She’s also became pregnant during this 28 days and I hope to god that accepting this challenge don’t cause her any complications or issues. Not happy! 28 day challenge is a challenge alright. More like a gauntlet. Thought I’d save some money by switching from Blue but ended up costing more in the long run when you add the vet bill...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dogs love the Purina smart blend, they love the chunks of dried meat it's almost like eating jerky for them. Their favorite flavor has always been the turkey and venison. We have used other flavors as well and they like them but they really super love the venison and turkey! Thank you for providing this nutritious food for my special girls

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 3 dogs currently and they can be kind of picky. I have been getting different brands and types of food. This flavor seems to be a hit with all 3 dogs so far. It's a bit more expensive but that worth it so I can feed all my pets the same food.

I will day they prefer the larger chunks of meaty morsels and every now and then we get a bag that has those. There's been a few times I've gotten bags where there's barely any meaty morsels and they don't like that.

Have used this product for several months quality has changed dog will sniff and walk away. This also happened a couple of months ago same bag but color mix of food is different.Something has changed dog food mix doesn’t look the same.Have always purchased from Walmart .Price increased quality went down

I have been buying this dog food for the past two years. My dogs love it. My Cocker Spaniels are fit not fat with great play energy, great coats that are shinny and thick with clear eyes and radiant teeth. Good value for us as used to give Royal Canine to dogs, saw no difference in coat or energy with True Instinct dog food.
