Updates that are detrimental are NOT progress!

ACCURACY: Very disappointed with the first completion of my return. It showed almost all of my IRA's basis used up by almost $20,000.00 too much reducing my taxable RMD. The next day when getting ready to e-file, I noticed a $5000.00 difference between the previous refund noted and the new amount now owed the IRS. At first, I thought that maybe the rules had changed to allow all remaining basis to be credited to the current taxable RMD (not true) like was done with depreciation of a company's capital investment for that year. Apparently that morning's software update corrected that huge mistake. FEATURES: Entering interest and dividend data this year was a pain compared to last year. Last year both interest and dividends for the previous year were listed with a column for this year's entries adjacent to the pervious year's data. All I had to do was enter this year's data for each noted financial company and then drop down to the next company. Easy! This year the old data was NOT listed and I had to go to an income screen and click on Interest Square and then make my first entry which did not then appear, so I had no visibility of what account I had entered and what was not entered yet. Same for interest, you never knew where you were in entering multiple accounts. I had to look at Schedule B worksheet to see my progress. Why do you make revisions that add no improvement but instead increase my work and frustration???? Third unnecessary Feature: Repeatedly requesting me to fill out a State return for a state that has NO income tax. Some of my friends using Turbo Tax had the same gripe! Your software should know what state I live in by checking my home address to a list of states with NO income tax! Not that hard to program.

TurboTax good for price

I like TurboTax desktop. This year they advised I could do TurboTax online. Started it online but did not like. It was confusing to me. Went back and started and finished return on the Desktop format. Even the desktop format was more confusing this year. Just some of the questions were tricky and hard to understand. Didn't find it as easy this year as years past.

Stupid Turbo Tax error.

Turbo tTx would not e-file my return claiming that my state withholding ($1,375.00) on a 1099-R is higher than the gross amount of $31,500.00. However, the gross amount is higher than the state withholding. I spent hours finding a work-around. PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!

Had to Re-File and didn't get any credit back

I got $30 returned, just to pay $25 to re-file my state taxes because your software was wrong. I filed incorrect taxes because of you and had to pay $150. And you think a measly $5 was enough to cover the inconvenience? You should have refunded my original fee that I had to pay to e-file for my state, and pay for me to re-file. That would have been appropriate. Not to mention providing me your paid service to protect me if I get audited for free, which I paid the first time. THAT would be good customer service, and be a display of a true apology for the inconvenience.

TurboTax issue with 529 and college expense

TurboTax was awesome all these years. But this year it was a mess when it came to College Expenses. It didn't ask questions regarding room and board which resulted in my 529 distribution being taxed. Saw a lot of complaints regarding this exact topic on the TurboTax Community. No fix for this bug was provided by TurboTax despite it being reported for months. I'm not sure if I will continue with TurboTax next year as I will have the same college situation and not sure if TurboTax can handle this scenario anymore!

no ability to print after filing!

I use turbo tax every year to do my taxes and my parents taxes. This year I had difficulties with communication with intuit. I received an email indicating form 5695 was available and I could continue doing my taxes, however, the download did not update the software. After 24 hours, i called the hotline, was transferred several times and had to reconfirm who I was each time. I was not "warm" transferred. In the end, they told me to wait for the download. They didn't answer my question directly - was it available or not. Conflicting information with the original date of availability 3/2026, to an email indicating it was available, to no updates in the system. I just filed my taxes, and couldn't print ANY forms. The software indicated the reason was ny. but I am unable to print my federal forms as well. very frustrating to say the least.

Works, but ...

Works but I lost confidence in the product this year. It seemed a little buggy this year. The interface treats the Payer ID differently in the input and review sections for foreign 1099-DIV that have no Federal ID. Input requires zeroes, and review section requires blanks. Interface requests for forms not included in the filing and requests the same information multiple times and at times unexpectedly. Printing form 1040-SR without truncating forms at the bottom was a real challenge on MacOS with an HP 2035. Printing behaved differently depending on where the print was selected. Only "Print forms for filing" got satisfactory results.

Great, but required manual entries

The interview in the desktop software would not let me enter medical expenses because it said we only qualified for the federal standard deduction. It DID let me add charitable donations. The software automatically entered our medical expenses based on our 1095-A form, but we had more expenses to enter. While we still only qualified for the FEDERAL return standard deduction, the additional expenses are beneficial for our state return. I added them manually via “Forms”, but it was VERY frustrating. I buy TurboTax to avoid the manual entries and to cover all possibilities. Fail. I looked online and found similar questions from multiple years back. Some answers were vague and some accusatory that users didn't understand what they were doing. I wasn't going to ask a forum question or pay for advice for something the software should do and I was able to figure out on my own.

Turbo Tax

I was disappointed this year for the following: 1. Last year Turbo Tax data not transferred to this years turbo tax 2. Did not include our full names, is missing our middle names 3. Forced m to included "premium turbo tax" and then charged cost 4. Got hung-up on the state tax return for questions that did not apply and did not apply to our return 5. Tried to force us to use online forms in lieu of on my computer Hope next year you change you "style"

Polish additional information table access, etc

We have used TurboTax for years and find it mostly very user-friendly, however I was even more frustrated this year with the feature to add supporting details on a table "behind" the number you are entering. I would like to see this feature easier to use (it doesn't even seem to be on many of the data entry points where I have supporting details to add) and it seems quite fickle. Sometimes it opens with a click, other times something else is required. Make it available for all entries and make it accessible with a click in the data entry box, please. And the Mark as Estimated was totally unfriendly. There used to be a way to see from that screen whether the "estimated" was marked, and now it seemed you could only tell if the edit tool worked was to wait for the review. Also, the flags didn't seem as easy to use or intuitive. They used to be much easier to connect to a specific entry page and easier to pull up when you needed them. I gave up on them. Please polish these user tools to help us make the experience more easy. Oh-and for some unknown reason the program downloaded Rhode Island which I didn't want or need. And there was no easy way to delete it. I also wish there were some comparison tools to help when switching from married filing separately to married filing jointly--especially the tax history tables. I would have found it helpful for there to be a worksheet with tips on how best to convert, but we managed without one.
