Perfect Product

This year's program did not include the screen option for in-putting Fm 1099-PATR entries. After much trouble I was able to get an answer through the "Help" field where forum posters explained the work-around method of manually entering the information via the "Do It Myself" option at the bottom of the Dividend Screen.

Excellent program

I had conversations with two online associates as my older computer would not update. They were very patient and a huge help. As it turned out I feel pretty sure it was a filter block on my internet connection. I took the laptop to the office and used the business internet and it worked find.

Federal and State Returns are Talking!!

So VERY glad you FINALLY merged the completion of the Federal and the State returns together. This time I didn't have to go back through all my documents and papers to answer the SAME questions in the State return that I'd already answered in the Federal return. I've been literally yelling at my computer for DECADES to do this. And, you finally listened. So VERY Happy!!

reply from TurboTax Care Team

It’s great to know you found TurboTax so intuitive. We work hard to keep the interface clear and the questions simple so you can finish your taxes with confidence and speed.

filing issue

auto fill previous years pin so the file won't be rejected after submission I had a problem with the program shutting down after it saved the program and was unable to retrieve the file or program. Praying and unplugging the computer for a day helped.

TurboTax searches not useful and limited filing

I have used TurboTax for 20 years. I have found that the search function within the desktop interface has become worthless over the last couple of years. I can no longer use it to navigate between forms or sections of the interview process. The answers to questions seem unrelated to my queries. Also, I ran into the limit for federal filings. I have prepared taxes for myself and four children, a total of 5 filings. I have duplicated some of the files as I worked out some complicated tax issues (i.e., using a dummy federal K1 to be able to input a state-level K1). As I attempted to file electronically only the third federal return, I reached the limit. I now have to file three returns via the mail. Very disappointed. I have filed the same five returns electronically every year until this year.

Cumbersome Navigating

1- Modifying investment entries in the step‑by‑step workflow is difficult because updates must be made through the associated form(s), rather than directly within the entry. 2- The Interest and Dividends sections are cumbersome to navigate; viewing all entries requires constant scrolling up and down. 3- The tax software should automatically exclude penalties on tax payments whose deadlines were postponed to January 2025 due to the Los Angeles wildfires. A similar extension was also announced at the federal level.

You asked for a review. I added a request

There are too many little glitches througout the system--fortunately, not in critical areas, For example-- I recently struggled through the 1040-ES for 2nd qtr. payment. I remembered that in the final stages of filing my 2025 (TT Winfows desktop) there was an option about preparing estimates for the new year. Although I suspected it was just to print out the forms and instructions, I launch TT and tried to find it. I launched the help pop-up (a small box), enterered '1040-ES' in the search field, and selected the appropriate item from the list. When the results appreared wtithout any word-wrap, I tried to enlarge the frame but found it did not provide for that. It seems that either this function was not checked by quality assurance or the correction was not a high enough priority. Second, I would ask you to consider adding the ability to calculate quarterly estimate amounts--either within the main TT or as a separate program. There are several sites that provide such tools: IRS.GOV and CALCULATOR.NET show two different approaches. However, they all have no provision to save your data for when you need to calculate the next qurater's payment. Doing this with TT would not only allow a 'Save' option, but could also allow for using the data from the prior year as a starting point. If you have never had to do it, I challenge you to go throught the 1040_ES withing 6 hours, and to get the full effect, you might assume an AGI of $75,000 (for income already taxed), then add $7,000 for dividends, $5,000 in capital gains, and $2,000 for collectibles (as if you sold the jewelry you inheited from your distant aunt, or you sold your comic book collection), and allowing for the time you would have to gather those numbers.

Turbo Tax error

I have used Turbo Tax for years. In 24 I went to another company because I wasn't happy with Turbo Tax, but this year nI decided to come back. After the taxes were done, I was then pleased. 3 months later I get bill in the mail for over $5000 from the IRS saying they updated my returns. Now, at the time I ran all the updates prior to finalizing and printing out my returns. In checking my 25 returns to see I I made an error it had me do an update prior to me being able to reopen my taxes an the amount owed went from approximately $2200 to Approx $7400. Now I have to pay out with late fees due to what ever error was in the program.

STATE TAX RETURN BAIT AND SWITCH

When I tried to efile my state tax return, at the last second Turbo Tax tried to slap on another charge. Forty dollars I think, for some kind of premium services. If I had hit send, you would've docked my checking account for this. EGREGIOUS. NO WARNING. DISGUSTING. HIDDEN CHARGE. REPUTATION KILLER.

TT '25 worst ever

What a MESS the 2025 Tax Year Premier Desktop software has created. Main problems - Standard Deduction NOT applied, Says my name is Missing, Asking for 1099 (all dowloaded from financial institutions) data like name, address, SS#, has me in AMT when that has NEVER happened before............I've used TT for many years but this is definitely the LAST - It is wasting my time NOT saving it and the Cost is insane for bad software
