I have been using Turbo Tax since before 2011. It has just gotten better and better. They now have Schedule K. I now use the version with rentals. The software asks lots of questions and takes me thru every income, credit or deduction possible. I have never had a problem with it. I have never been audited with it (knock on wood). I remember 2011 vividly because I lost the software and couldn't finish my taxes. They helped me load the version I needed so support is also great. I use the computer version and have not had any problems. It interfaces with some banks and with software you can use to track deductions. Since I use it every year, it loads values from the previous year that it needs for the new year. I highly recommend using Turbo Tax.

The ONLY reason I can't give you 5 stars is because I can't transfer my downloaded Turbo Tax to ANOTHER computer when my first one was not working. I was supposed to DELETE it from the first one and REINSTALL IN THE 2nd ONE, and THEN I had to do my work ALL OVER AGAIN! ARGH

The software is buggy. I fix errors, but it keeps flagging them anyway. It unilaterally changes from Itemized deductions to standard Deductions without any input from the user. And you never get back to th window where you. choose. It references errors in the previous year's state return that cannot br changed. It references entries that were already deleted as errors.

I have been using TurboTax for many years, but I haven't seen much improvement. The biggest problem I face, and the one that wastes the most time every year, is fixing errors. When I run Smart Check, it always finds some errors. When I switch to “Forms” to investigate them, most of the errors are caused by missing data. However, those fields either cannot be entered through “EasyStep,” or I already entered the information in “EasyStep,” but it does not appear in “Forms.” I don't understand how the same types of errors can continue to exist year after year without being fixed.

I have used TurboTax for decades, but this year was the first time I experienced major, frustrating issues. First, the software was incredibly glitchy, automatically entering random numbers into forms that did not match my data. I had to manually delete forms like Schedule A and restart the program just to clear the error. Second, the Federal Review process failed completely. Instead of catching all errors at once, the system made me submit, fix one single error, resubmit, and then fix another error. This tedious, one-by-one process was extremely inefficient. Finally, despite paying for TurboTax Advantage—which is supposed to include Audit Defense—I was hit with an unexpected $45 charge because I filed an extension. Since I filed my returns in September, TurboTax claimed I was outside the April 30th opt-in window. Charging extra for a service I already pay for just because I filed a valid extension is completely unreasonable.

My returns were rejected because of wrong fed IP pin. Your message said to open the program and I'd be instructed on how to fix this. The instructions in the program did not direct me where to make this correction. I tried to do in the "forms" area, but couldn't edit the pin there. I finally googled where to enter the correct pin in the step by step dialogue. Thank goodness for google, because it would have taken a very long time to find it otherwise!

Your help function is practically worthless. You will only respond to predetermined issues - which are about the easiest things anyone might ask. If it's a complicated question you don't have a canned answer for there is absolutely not help at all.

auto fill previous years pin so the file won't be rejected after submission I had a problem with the program shutting down after it saved the program and was unable to retrieve the file or program. Praying and unplugging the computer for a day helped.

I had conversations with two online associates as my older computer would not update. They were very patient and a huge help. As it turned out I feel pretty sure it was a filter block on my internet connection. I took the laptop to the office and used the business internet and it worked find.

The partnership K-1, K-3 reporting is just as clunky as before, requiring you to create multiple forms for different income as well as foreign income. The drop down boxes that explains what is required in terms of entry is getting to be non existent. Same with the online help. Gemini was more helpful in addressing questions than TurboTax website!
