Disappointed for the first time in 20 years!

We have been using TurboTax for over 20 years and have never had the aggravation and difficulty we had this year. The software was terrible, it was not user friendly and the move from Windows 10 to 11 on a new computer was impossible without the excellent guidance of your live tech agent Susanna. We also had a problem with fixing an incorrect computation which showed us owing an underpayment penalty. There was no way we could see to correct this expensive error, which was very frustrating. Susanna put us through to a live tax expert agent, who walked us through our entire return to make sure that we had not made a mistake, and then when we got to the error, she had the answer we needed to file the required form to erase the incorrect overpayment amount. Without her help, we would never have to complete our tax return correctly. You need to get better software developers and return to the days of user friendly software!

Turbo Tax has created frustration and loss of mone

The Tax Experts have been very helpful. The last Expert I talked to name was Trevor. He was very helpful on getting me to getting my refund. The product has a major flaw and I feel I should get a complete refund for the product purchase, submitting my State refund electronically and for having to pay for the Tax experts. Total cost $167.99. I chose Turbo Tax to save money and time, but could have used my tax person for almost the same amount of money to do my return for me and save all the time I have lost and frustration. I started my refund early and when I imported my W2 I had downloaded into Turbo Tax my 2024 W2 instead of my 2025. The first expert I talked to said that the software should have caught that, but I ran it a second to check to see if I over looked something and it took the wrong W2 without alerting me to the mistake. I just retired the first of the year and hoped I would have my return to keep me from taking money from my retirement for a while and keeping my investments until later, but I have had to sell earlier than expected. The reason I am giving two stars is because your help has been very helpful so far.

Turbo Tax and it's representatives are Awesome!!

This is my third year using Turbo Tax, each year becomes easier and faster to complete my return. The software is great and covers EVERYTHING in a very easy to navigate and understand manner. But, what makes me so comfortable using Turbo Tax is if I have any questions their customer support is second to none! Every representative I've spoken with has been VERY knowledgeable, friendly and extremely patient with me. I feel confident my returns (Fed & State) are done accurately while getting me the best refund possible. Using Turbo Tax is a great experience, wouldn't have thought I would ever use those words regarding doing my taxes!! Thanks Turbo Tax for making a great product and hiring such friendly patient representatives and training them so well!!

Keep It Simple

I've used Turbo Tax for over 35 years. My returns are fairly simple, but over the years I have talked to your people. They are extremely helpful. I did not need to this year. You've got an outstanding product that is simple to use, very efficient, and very user friendly. Please do not over tweak it. I've seen companies that are trying to make their product better, but sometimes it has the opposite effect. Lord willing, I'll be using it again next year.

GREAT, but let's talk about Search versus AI Asst.

I mentioned this already in another review, but I don't think that I like that the Search button now starts the "AI Chat Box Assistant". I want the choice between a true Search field and an AI chat box. The old Search field brought up instantly any forms, worksheets, instructions to which I needed to refer. The AI chat box takes too long to load and seems to bring back to broad a series of topics. I prefer the straight up, type the form number and the search box takes me straight to the link. I like the AI chat box option, but it needs to be called that nominally, not the new "Search" button. Go back to what the Search button use to do, but add a separate AI Assistant button.

Challenging for me

I struggle with taxes every year. This year, I noticed changes to the deductible material-goods donations in that the drop-down box for pricing assistance was more awkward and inefficient than it had been in the past (and it was a bit cumbersome in the past). Also, some of the info that was downloaded from my financial institutions seemed to come across incorrectly and I don't know if that is a TT issue or LPL. Once I paid for technical assistance, I did receive help from a very nice gentleman and it helped me get through it. There was a part where it said I had underpaid my “estimated taxes” last year and there was a fine. I have no idea what that was all about as I paid thousands of dollars in taxes last year and I don't do ‘estimated taxes' (my financial planner takes taxes out for me except for dividend and capital gains which are unpredictable). Because my numbers for this year were all messed up at one point, it suggested I should pay estimated taxes moving forward and I signed up for it. As it turned out, after errors and duplications were identified, I wouldn't have needed to consider that but I couldn't figure out how to get back to that to undo it. I will have to work on that tomorrow. What I like is that I have taxes for each year on my computer, that I can get (pay for) live help if I get stuck.

Great product but is missing some account numbers.

My main issue is how you changed downloading information from brokerage houses and interest sources. this used to be simple but now it took me to a screen that did not have enough information on it to determine what was needed. You need to understand that someone may get 3 or more forms from the same investment company. I'd be happy to talk with you on this. I started with Macintax in the 80's and then your product. I've taken tax classes and passed the CFP exam. thanks

Modify Investment identificati titles

You could improve the way you display investment titles. I have 3 Schwab accounts. The way you display them they all have the same title so I can't tell them apart. Solution: Allow the customer to have a 3 or 4 digit identification field so we will know which is which.

TurboTax State still not very Q&A

Disliked the AI ... it was much worse than previous years. It didn't find the answers to my questions. I had to do it myself in the forms. Sale of my house ... was logged as income in my state form in an comment about minimum tax. This really got me worried to the point where I filed the Schedule D and Form 8949 anyway

This is all you ever really need!!!

Worked in a comprehensive manner without the need for additional assistance for the most part. I did get hung up on importing data from Merrill Lynch as I selected the wrong line. The agent walked me through that. There was the issue with California involving Line 76. Just had to insert IRC 1362 or something like that. Think it is a glitch but maybe harmless.
