TurboTax has Many Problems

There are a number of bugs with TurboTax and also trying not to provide the 5 eFiles that are included in the purchase. 1) TurboTax does not work on Windows 10, 2) QBI form is included with all tax returns done even though there is no Qualified Business Income, 3) When checking the actual forms and then returning back to the tax questions it does not return you to the proper place, 4) the errors at before filing are TurboTax created because TurboTax does not fill out the forms correctly or completely, 5) Entering in this text is hard because many characters are skipped as you type. These are just the top 5 off the top of my head.

Overall Turbo tax is great, but still has flaws

I was disappointed in filling out one of the Forms that had a zero amount. The program would not accept that so I finally had to enter a penny for it to take. I received the form from the government for healthcare so it was accurate data. If premium tax credits are halted during the year, that field will be zero since money is not credited.

Where do I input the CP01A Pin?..Frustration!

Very frustrating final steps, after rejection, and attempts to correct a simple omission. I had my return rejected due to a missing CP01A PIN. OK, I have that, but where does it need to be input? I hav gone over every line, and cannot see a place where it is to be input. I found on on-line reference indicating there is a question asking if I, or a spouse, received a CP01A notice, which we have, but I cannot find the place that question s located. I can see the place on the printed forms where that information is requested, but cannot find it with the on-line program. I started this e-file in plenty of time, but now I MAY BE FORCED TO FILE BY MAIL. Many hours wasted. Rod J Issaquah, WA

Still a lot of money for limited help.

Not focused at all for foreign based people with no W2, rental income in the USA left behind, stocks (with foreign withholding pecularities) and other very common but confusing situations. There is really no good slution for the millions fo folks abroad and it does not really get better as the years move on.

Pretty good, but you still need to be cautious.

Overall, good product. You need to know when to dig deeper, for example, Turbo Tax initially wanted to tax the earnings on my qualified 529 withdrawals. If I didn't dig deeper, I would not have gotten to the point where it would take that off. Link the 1098T with the 1098Q. Big issue in my opinion. Ultimately, you don't even need to report the 1098T and Q if the 529 withdrawal is qualified. Also, more annoying than anything - I had multiple 1099s from brokerage firms that were available early, but for some reason, the program would not even look them up to download that because the date was prior to when they thought it would be ready. Delayed me filing by about a week. Meanwhile, I had paper copies that I downloaded in hand. ESPP functionality is very good, surprisingly. The program easily led me to determining my adjusted cost basis, which is why I buy the premier version. Kudos. Just have the same flow and functionality for college expenses/529s!

I have used Turbo Tax for many years

The importing of documents has improved over the years; but is still not seamless. While going through the federal form, at times it was a bi confusing. It neve gave me a statement saying "based on your deductions it would be best to take the standard deduction. This used to happen in the normal entering of data, and now it did not, so I had to go back into the forms and see what Turbo Tax did for deductions. Then I had to look up outside of TurboTax the standard deduction available for me to see if Turbo Tax had used the standard deduction. Very clumsy. Past versions seemed to work better for this and give more commentary through out the process. The deduction is the example I remember; but in general it seemed like it was giving me less commentary along the way, then past years.

confused

turbo tax was giving me an error for data i put into my 1099r box 18. it was telling me that the data was to long for the box yet i was putting in the information provided on the form. Turbo tax would not submit my return unless i removed the info. Now there may be a discrepancy between the 1099 they receive and the one i submitted.

Disappointed

I was not as impressed as former years. It was more difficult to process my taxes. I've been doing my own taxes my entire life and have been using your tax program since your inception. I cannot print my state and federal separately without having to go through the entire forms to find them. Very disappointing, especially the fees taken out of my Federal refund.

TurboTax is not as easy as it used to be

I am so glad to transfer last year's basic info to this years. To maneuver and find things is getting more and more complicated. Would just like to see and find the tax forms exactly like the ones I got in the mail. Glad some of the forms can be downloaded from the company, like Schwab. Glad tech support is available but we couldn't get my computer to recognize the app she needed to screen share to help me. Would have been much less stressful to have my issues just explained to me versus screen share.

I love Turbo Tax although I had unique issues

My experience was good. I did have a unique tax trap where I received a lump sum payment from SSDI that spanned 2024 and 2025. The instructions were not clear, and I spent far too long trying to figure out why a box was not auto checking. I resorted to using AI to help me, although I briefly wondered if an expert could help. I think I ended up with an accurate form, but would love to see more detailed info and possibly an extensive AI built it.
