BUG matching 529 withdrawals non-tuition expenses

Using TT is clear & the coverage is comprehensive. I've been using it for 10+ years so I'm very familiar with it. The low rating is for a bug in the education deduction section where the 1099-Q from a 529 plan is not properly matched against non-tuition expenses (room, board, etc.) so the 529 ends up partially taxed. I found out about the bug when I submitted my redacted (SSNs removed) tax return to Google Gemini AI, which also suggested a workaround. I confirmed in the Community forums that the bug was acknowledged in February and an update was released in March which did NOT fix the bug. Community posts also recommended the workaround that Gemini did. I will use TT again next year, but I will definitely be running its results through whatever AI I'm using then.

"It's Deductible" is NO MORE!

I didn't engage with one of the experts, but I was extremely disappointed that Intuit has discontinued their "It's Deductible" tools and service. We have used this nearly every year for the past decade. It worked so eloquently with TurboTax, but now it's no longer available and there is no simple means for tracking, estimating and downloading items that might have been given away as gifts.

Arbitrarily added a "Canadian Retirement" form

TurboTax arbitrarily added a "Canadian Retirement" form, with a stream of questions pertaining to the phantom "Canadian Retirement" which persisted through the whole filing, even though we had no contact or income with Canada. At the final check, the form disappeared. If I had requested paid assistance it would have been a waste of the $60 fee, plus the time on both sides to resolve the nonexistent "Canadian Retirement" issue.

Another Great Year - Thank you!

Intuit continues to provide a accurate, easy to use, all in one program for personal income tax return completion and filing. I would appreciate their continued support of the personal user product in a desktop format rather than a cloud based or agent based platform. I did have one issue with form 1099-DIV Worksheet, but deleting the download and entering the 1099-DIV manually fixed the issue. In conclusion, greatly satisfied with the features, accuracy, on-line help, and the compatibility of the desktop product with my pc.

Makes tax return preparation much easier.

I have used TT for many years because I liked the Q and A format and the ability to have TT do all the calculations. However, one thing that I have always resented is the inability to easily print the information on a TT screen that I was working on. I don't understand why TT will not allow a customer to do this. Regarding TT expert assistance, I was unable to find the option I was interested in, which lies somewhere between asking a question and having an expert prepare my entire return. What I wanted was to prepare the return myself, and then have an expert review the entire return with me and identify any issues that I may have missed.

Turbo Tax is a Must Have at Tax Time

I find that Turbo Tax is easy to use and is amaze at the end results of the info populated in the fields of the correct forms. I like that i can import my investments and bank information. I have been using Turbo Tax for over 30 years. I like that I have customer support and a community support page that I can google information if I need assistance.

Marginal Experience This Year

I was unable to import information from one of my brokers. Very frustrating. Finding any help from TurboTax was ridiculous - just kept getting stupid ads. I don't like the new interface to input numbers by hand. It was hard to figure out and seemed unnecessary to go through the same loop again and again to get to the input screen. I have been very happy with TurboTax in the past, but this year, it was not great.

Less and Less Trustworthy

It is more important than ever to check every line of your forms and understand what and if bad calculations were added. Intuit won't be paying your interest and penalties when they screw up. And they seem to do that more and more in unexplainable ways. If I didn't have years of taxes done in this format, I don't know if I would keep using it. At some point it probably makes more sense to just outsource this.

Please clean up the UI

user for >20 years. Works fine, but UI still has annoying features: 1. Why don't you standardize text on buttons, such as "OK" or "Continue" or ... Just use one 2. Put OK/continue buttons at same position on screen, so I don't have to go mouse seeking on each page 3. When a help topic is opened, make it open at same position and size as the last one 4. When updating, have to click "continue"/OK/yes too many times. I think I've started the update, but when I return to computer some time later, it's still waiting on yet another OK. 5. Spend some quality time reviewing TurboTax's UI and make us all happier!

Has become more complicated to use

You made things more difficult to accomplish this year. I mistakenly chose to import investment info and apparently it interpreted this that I wanted to do it for every investment. And I couldn't figure out how to go back and undo that choice. So to fill in one number (interest) for several small accounts, I had to fight with it to let me just put the number in. These were accounts that I couldn't import the info for because they weren't on the list of choices. Just seemed overly complicated this year. Then when I got to the end and tried to file my forms, it informed me that it couldn't because I needed to update it. Why on earth didn't it tell me that when I first started filling the information to file the forms so that I didn't have to go through that again?
