TurboTax used to be rather simple. t is now complex and doesn't cover all I'm paying for, like covering K-1 specific line items, and what needs to be installed. Same with completing stock data...had over 10 errors looking for whether a line item is a digital asset.

The software worked well. I have had problems with having to continually re-activate the TurboTax Premier - Desktop program following each software update. The recommended solution was to delete my anti-virus software. This was totally unacceptable for me. So I rushed to complete my return before running out of the 5 available activations.

Turbo tax was very easy to use. I liked all the feature available to me while preparing the return. The import function for W2's and Investment Statement and activity saves countless hours of time from having to manually input the information. And the auto fill linkage to your state return saves time. I also like the accuracy of TT alerting you of non-matching data, or non compatible data. Have use the product for many years, definitely recommend.

I've used TurboTax Premier for several years, and overall it gets the job done, but the process felt more complicated and time-consuming than in previous years. A few recurring frustrations: state e-filing costs extra even though federal is free, which has never made sense to me. There are also several prompts pushing add-on products and audit protection services that can feel more alarming than helpful—they read more like upsells than genuine guidance. I appreciate the desktop version's Forms Mode, which lets you view and verify the actual tax forms directly. This is useful for more complex returns. The interview flow, however, can lead you into unnecessary forms or circular loops, particularly around foreign tax credits and investment income. California filers should be aware that the state return includes many adjustment screens that aren't clearly explained, so some sections required additional research to answer correctly. Bottom line: good for investment income and moderately complex returns, but not always intuitive. I'd recommend it primarily to users who are comfortable reviewing the underlying tax forms, not just following the interview prompts.

Turbo tax did not work correctly when I first entered my 1099R. Customer service did not help me. I had to try editing and resubmitting the information multiple times. Also, I thought that the software included e filing the return and was disappointed to see a $40 fee. I was just so frustrated by then that I went ahead and paid it and filed the returns.

The 529 step by step does not work and I had to enter information on the form directly. If I did not discover this flaw, my taxes would have been $15K higher. The 1099-R step by step could not handle split uses of the funds, requiring me to "create" two 1099s fro the one I received. The charitable contributions for non-cash items is terrible. Previous years had a seamless entry/evaluation system. This year, every item had to be entered individually adding significant tiead effort.

Turbotax prompted me that I had overfunded my HSA account and that I would be penalized 6% if I did not withdraw funds. I did so only to find out that I had in fact, it was not overfunded. To get this resolved, I had to take a lot of time contact my HSA admin and pay $60 for tax advice on Inuit to get this resolved even though it was it was Intuit's mistake. Turns out this prompt may have been generated from some interview about last year's taxes that I was unable to go back and see or correct. Not happy about all this.

I engaged the support team twice this year due to problems I was having getting rid of errors related to a Ponzi scheme. They worked very closely with me to help isolate the problem until I was able to discover the problem myself. But they al least were able to get me to the right area. I've used Turbo Tax every year since 2007 or possibly earlier. There hasn't been a single tax computation I haven't been able to resolve. I've sold houses, had small businesses, losses from Ponzi schemes, stock options, had to recharacterize IRA transactions, you name it. Turbo tax is one of the easiest tax programs to use. I used to follow their interview process to do my taxes, but I've become so familiar with their format that i now just jump right into each section I need to work on. If you haven't tried it yet, you nee o give it a try. I think you'll be pleasantry surprised.

Have been using this product for 30 plus years. There are always problems. Lost two hours trying to undo the issue with reporting 529 disbursements. When it waste only game in town, we put up with the glitches and the problems. Now that there are many more offerings out there, we will try another product next year.

I did opt for Tax Advice from your Experts and paid for it, but the guy failed to help me correctly. So I did figure out the problem on my own efforts. The advice your Expert gave me was wrong. I did the opposite of his advice and that was correct. TT does a very poor job of properly guiding people with 1031 Exchanges, and I assume those are fairly common. I probably spent twice as much time on my TT efforts this year than last year because of the poor guidance given by Intuit-TT on how to properly report a 1031 Exchange.
