TurboTax gets even easier and better

It works better every year, it took less time this year and the numbers were calculated quickly. I now use the feature that runs through everything and it worked perfectly. Wasn't sure at first how it would work because I switched from PC to Mac. Would not transfer PDF from last year, but took no time to reenter the information. Didn't need support this year as it was easy once I got it to download to the Mac. Program ran even better on the Mac than it did on PC, and all the features were great.

Turbo Tax ripoff.

I am upset about the refund processing fee of $40. I had my acct number on the file and also paid $80 for the Turbo Tax software. Even if I agreed to this, I feel that intuit is ripping me off by having my refund go through another bank and charging a refund processing fee.

Great for Investments

I love TurboTax. I've been using it almost from the beginning. I love that it can automatically enter all of my investment account information so I don't have to type it all in myself. I've found it to be very accurate and easy to navigate. I do all my family members' taxes on it. I don't like that it limits me to 5 efiled returns. I have more than 4 family members. That seems like an unreasonably low number to me.

Gets the Job Done, But Not Without Frustration

I've used TurboTax Premier for several years, and overall it gets the job done, but the process felt more complicated and time-consuming than in previous years. A few recurring frustrations: state e-filing costs extra even though federal is free, which has never made sense to me. There are also several prompts pushing add-on products and audit protection services that can feel more alarming than helpful—they read more like upsells than genuine guidance. I appreciate the desktop version's Forms Mode, which lets you view and verify the actual tax forms directly. This is useful for more complex returns. The interview flow, however, can lead you into unnecessary forms or circular loops, particularly around foreign tax credits and investment income. California filers should be aware that the state return includes many adjustment screens that aren't clearly explained, so some sections required additional research to answer correctly. Bottom line: good for investment income and moderately complex returns, but not always intuitive. I'd recommend it primarily to users who are comfortable reviewing the underlying tax forms, not just following the interview prompts.

Advertising needs some work - truth in advertising

Advertising is very confusing. First I bought the Turbo tax package through Costco because it said I could file 5 federal returns and one free state return. Well come to find out that is an online package and you can only file one federal return (had to call Turbo Tax to find this out). So then I had to buy another premium package desktop version this time, says 5 free federal and one free state. But that is also not true. They give you one free "download" of a state return but you still have to pay $25 to file it!! Needless to say I am not happy. The product itself works fine but the advertising is not true.

Good but poor for complicated rental properties

The EasyStep pathway for entering information for a property that is rented-out part-time and used the owner part-time that also ceased to be a rental property after 10 days in January was terrible. Not only did EasyStep come-up with the wrong entries, it also blocked me from overriding many of them on the forms. It has real issues with depreciation and passive activity losses for properties like mine (admittedly, very specialized). I had fewer problems in other years where I did not cease to rent-out the property but found the questions in EasyStep to NOT lead the proper classification of the assets depreciation schedules and various special treatment options (like Section 179 or Special Depreciation). It would have been nice to be able to force in the depreciation schedule and special treatment options via EasyStep with some kind of override.

My honest repetitive review

I love Turbotax. I have used it for over 25 years. I continue to hate your website, and I have reported this every year but it's still horrible. Why can't you just have a menu item to go directly to the program for download. I know you want to keep pushing paid services but there are people who know how to-do taxes without needing help. PLEASE make your website more user friendly. Other than that comment, i would give you 5 stars. One more thing, charge to file state is a bit excessive.

Poor design/bugs re 1099-Q distribn & campus jobs

Had a very difficult time returning to where I had been before when entering/discarding 1099-Q information which turned out to not be required for a dependent college student with a 529 distribution and part time income. Also, there was no appropriate guiding query or check regarding student campus job exemption from FICA and Medicare withholding.

Turbo Tax input has become much more confusing.

When I started Turbo Tax 2025 for the first time this year I found a very confusing and hard to understand assortment of windows in the financial income section. Interest, Dividends, Schedule B, Schedule R were very hard to figure out. Each field being in a large box was not helpful. It was better when each company was listed as a line item and then selected. Even after I imported information from some companies i could not see what information was there in a logical group.

2025 TurboTax Mediocrity

We were unable to import dividend and interest data from our financial institution, Merrill Lynch, into the TurboTax software, spent more than 2 hours with TurboTax technical assistance and were still not able to resolve the problem. Also, we were unable to exclude the AZ tax exempt municipal interest on line 15 of the AZ state Form 140, Resident Personal Income Tax Return, from the total tax exempt interest reported on line 2a of the federal 1040-SR, US Income Tax Return for Seniors.
