Turbotax saves us money when compared to other methods for filing our taxes, and we are learning new things each year from using the product. Even though the tax code changes all the time, the TurboTax interface is familiar and we don't have worry about its accuracy. When necessary, the support people are friendly and knowledgeable. We are able to load the same product on our Mac OS and Windows platforms. New features show up year which makes things easier.

I'm a long time user of TurboTax online. I tried TurboTax Premier desktop version for the first time. The support for California domestic partners is dismal. It's all well documented online and I have little to add. If you live in a community property state like California and are in an RDP, look elsewhere for help with filing your returns. TurboTax is a disaster in this respect. The software has some useability issues. For example, for the most part it's impossible to copy and paste the tet from the UI elsewhere. I wanted to lookup more information on certain things and I had to retype them into the Google prompt. I have also run into issues with text rendering. There were pages where text was rendered on top of other text making it illegible. It's not possible to open two instances of the app to copy and paste field values from one to another. You have to open a return, copy, open another return and paste. But I do like the fact that you can have an unlimited quantity of federal returns.

The initial download took quite a while and required on my part with continued restarts. Once I began using the program, it was very straightforward. I am not sure if you planned double up on the production of two copies of the file to mail packages. It just gives me another set of forms in case the first gets lost in the mail.

This year your program was kind of buggy and the interface not as good as last year. When I went to enter data for 1099 forms the program would not let me enter anything. Spent the whole afternoon trying to get it to work. Finally had to search online to find a work around. Luckily it looks like it got fixed in an update. The way you display the list of accounts when doing 1099 forms takes up too much vertical space - don't need so much blank space around each account as it limits how much i ca see at one time on the screen. Also, why do you NOT do form 8990? It would not that complicated for the TT to fill it out. It is somewhat confusing (due to poor irs instructions) on how to fille out and takes me a lot of extra time as i need to figure out how to do it. Also, anyone who needs a 8990 must now file by mail not by e-file as there is no way to add it to the return.

I like the guided prompts for input. I think some of the 1099-R handling could better, especially when only a portion is taxable as different activities from an IRA or 401k could be combined on one 1099, as conversions and direct rollovers need to be handled differently. I do not like all the pop up things trying to get me to buy a service or that I have to wait for a specific date to upload my tax forms from a brokerage when they are actually ready before that date. Can't we try and fail if they are not really there?

Had a lot of trouble with Turbo Tax this year. Could not enter our 1099-Rs. That feature seemed to be frozen. I noticed other filers were complaining about the same thing. Also, we couldn't file because of missing updates. Why aren't updates automatically downloaded? Or at least a notification that updates were available, which is the usual procedure. Also, what if I had filed before these updates were available? Wouldn't my return be inaccurate if these updates were not included? Turbo Tax seemed unprepared this year.

This is the 35th year that I've used Turbo Tax to calculate my income taxes. I use Turbo Tax because it is accurate, compatible, and the interfacing with financial institutions makes it very easy to complete this task. While I don't have a complicated tax situation right now, the features of Turbo Tax makes it easy to cruise through the various income and deduction topics allowing me an opportunity to better understand various tax issues and situations. I have survived two audits dealing with charitable giving without complications. The support that I received from Turbo Tax was helpful.

I had a couple of issues that made doing the taxes more dificult than it should have been. 1) when putting information for 1099-dev, 1099-int and another 1099 topic I downloaded the information from my broker. When it asked me to review the information for each, it only showed the broker name. I have 7 accounts with that broker. It should show at least PART of the account number when I get to that stage. 2) on my 1095-a , my column B was zero for all months. Although it did not affect me as i do not itemize, it would not let me enter the form as it was sent to me. (You don't believe me? I will show you) I made up a reasonable number and submitted that instead as it didn't matter. 3) If I leave the "interview method" of entering information for whatever reason, I would like a button to return me to the interview where I left off. Could not find a good way to do that other than getting out of TurboTax and returning. Other than those things, I love the product. Have been using it since I did it character based on my 286 computer under DOS. Thanks

This year is not good! I am filing a simple return for a friend. The 2025 program requires the AGI to be in cents but the import from 2024 is rounded up. It took several attempts before I realized I needed to add all the W-2s from last year up and then put the Cents on the AGI on the 2025 line before your program would approve the AGI as the same. I have used Turbo Tax Premier for 20+ years and have never had a problem. I uninstalled the Return and reinstalled it and paid my $25.00 twice trying to E File. I'm still trying to get the Return Filed. Now it says it is being rejected by IRS.

Prior years I received exceptional support. Short waiting time and knowledgeable personnel. This year I had to deal with an 800 number that only wanted to text/email an address before offering a Human. Not sure which was better. Humans that I spoke with (on 3 different occasions) were very polite, friendly but not very knowledgeable specific to my questions. Several times your phone system dropped me. On one occasion the staffer called me back (unexpectedly). The s/w is very complex and you need experienced users available to answer unique questions.
