As always TT simplified the tax prep process. This year I hit a couple of issues but managed to work through. (Example: I had manually add my CHET contribution to my state return (CT 1040) -- maybe I missed a question or a bullet on higher education contributions.

I have used TurboTax for well over 20 years and find it works well for my family. We do not have complicated investments or property losses or deductions where we need expert advice to find answers to the questions on the forms. The program progresses logically, step by step through the tax forms and covers every topic I would need to respond to. Some years we get a refund and some we pay tax. Our income varies each year so it is hard to plan how much to deduct and save for taxes. I trust the program to guide me through to file my taxes properly.

This year's Turbo Tax is a little tougher to use. I can't find how to print "Only" forms used for filing. I need a pdf that does not include worksheets. This file is useful when companies ask for your Federal Tax report. A form with all these worksheets means it must be edited to remove those worksheets via a 3rd party pdf application. Turbo Tax used to allow a Filing forms only option when printing, that is not there anymore or it is not easy to find.

I've used TurboTax Premier for several years, and overall it gets the job done, but the process felt more complicated and time-consuming than in previous years. A few recurring frustrations: state e-filing costs extra even though federal is free, which has never made sense to me. There are also several prompts pushing add-on products and audit protection services that can feel more alarming than helpful—they read more like upsells than genuine guidance. I appreciate the desktop version's Forms Mode, which lets you view and verify the actual tax forms directly. This is useful for more complex returns. The interview flow, however, can lead you into unnecessary forms or circular loops, particularly around foreign tax credits and investment income. California filers should be aware that the state return includes many adjustment screens that aren't clearly explained, so some sections required additional research to answer correctly. Bottom line: good for investment income and moderately complex returns, but not always intuitive. I'd recommend it primarily to users who are comfortable reviewing the underlying tax forms, not just following the interview prompts.

I always do my taxes the old-fashioned way(by hand) first to see my tax refund/bill. Then I load my all my financial tax data into TurboTax to see if my return agrees with TT. Then I know I have included everything I should before I file my return. This gives me piece of mind that I've done it correctly.

I use a CPA every year to confirm my filings even though I'm taking the standard deduction. For $50 it's worth it and I sleep better. The software is easy t follow though since you can import almost any investment bank or broker data and the program inputs it in the right places why bother to do it yourself. I've used the desk top version since 1996 because I want to see the forms as I fill them, not just at the end.

I have been using TurboTax for over 5 years and since Turbo Tax has access to all that information this access could make organizing easier. For instance, my IRA basis was $7000 from the year 2024, but this information did not appear before it asked me if I kept track of my nondeductible basis! Why, when it has access to that information BEFORE I look it up. It also prompts me for answers from last year's return when it already has access to that information AND those answers... for instance etc, etc.... A better option would be to say " from prior years returns we are able to see such and such information; is this correct before we enter it for you".... Thank you

Never again. Almost twenty hours to plug in info from nine pages. That means ONE number from nine pages. Too many times, the instruction was not clear and I had to guess what was meant. You can't do an idiot check with people who work the system. They know what you mean even if it's not clear to the average person. I used to work these products, Automated Systems, so I think I have input.

Navigation around TurboTax is still a little confusing. Especially getting back to where you were before looking back to check an amount or electing to do some parts as Easy Step or Choose your own steps. NYS Inflation Refund Checks data entry procedure not well done

i got on line version free from fidelity it was impossible to use. it froze with incorrect tax certainly my fault but i could not edit , cancel and start again or see the forms to work out what i did wrong i gave up paid for the desktop version and completed it. i reckon you owe me 80 dollars
