in the 2025 tax year software I encountered a bug which forces you into answering information for “Canadian Registered Pension Income”. It happened to me twice, once on my tax forms, and once on my mother's tax forms. I entered the retirement plan information (mine) or pension plan information (my mom) and then entered the Social Security income information. After that, it had a question about checking if the social security income was taxable due to living abroad (no) and then was asked if received any lump sum payments (no). The next screen asked for the name to use to identify this Canadian registered retirement plan. I clicked “Back” and it went to a Canadian retirement plan summary list. I clicked on the trash can and it asked if I was sure I wanted to delete this “Canada RRP Wks”. I clicked Yes and it went to the Canadian retirement plan summary list which was now empty. I clicked Continue and it displayed the full 2025 Income Summary with the Canadian Registered Pension Income still listed (although $0). I found no easy way to delete it.

TurboTax Premier Desktop Software 2025 won't accept credit card payment for State e-file. I have tried all the suggestions online including confirming address matches credit card and tax return, clearing browser cookies and history, running software as administrator and removing online safety measures, like pop-up blockers - - PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE. Appears to occur since 2021 based on comment history! It is very frustrating to get to the end of this process to only run into e-file/payment issue.

I made a 1031 (like-kind property) Exchange last year. Filing requires a Form 8824 that's available but its Step-by-Step is hidden and there's little help. AI said to Search for "like kind" to find and use Step-by-Step. You need to create the replacement Sch E property. You must study applicable Fed Form instructions to understand given up and replacement property prices, fees, basis, and depreciation. Use Step-by-Step to answer questions and enter correct values. More detailed guidance is needed. After completing the exchange interview, switch to Forms view to verify that the Form 8824, 4797, Sch E, and depreciations are correct for both properties. I spent hours learning and trying different choices and values to get an error-free 8824 and correct forms. I called several "Connect with an expert" most couldn't help. I finally reached an enrolled agent with years of experience. We spent 5 hours figuring out how to answer the questionnaire. Later, I found the replacement property's basis was wrong resulting in a serious error in depreciation.

I've used TurboTax for many years and have relied on it to help me file an accurate return. This is the first year that I got to a point where I had no idea why the New Jersey state section was asking me for the previous year's distribution from a pension plan. When I went to the corresponding tax form, I saw the code G from my wife's pension, indicating that a General accounting method was to be used. There was no way to change that G and no way on a menu to go automatically to the source of the G on another form. I finally found that I had answered a question in the federal EasyStep retirement plan section inconsistently for my wife's plan. Fixing that error made the confusing question on the state EasyStep page go away.

I was unable to import anything. I kept coming to the screen about a popup. You didn't give any help on this to tell me what to do. Then when I was entering the information I got an error. You didn't give any help on this. I had to go to ChatGPT to find out the aborted import created blank files I needed to delete. You let us chose specific forms for printing but then print everything. This has happened for years. I keep notes on how to proceed on turbotax but then you change everything each year. And after leaving this page to check the spelling of a word when I came back everything was gone.

2025 must have been a tough year. TurboTax Premier (Mac desktop) was a mess on first delivery. Installation failed repeatedly, except when it didn't and put nothing on the screen, or got stuck trying to update from within the app itself. It took almost the whole tax season for a fully-capable app and all the necessary tax forms. This is the latest I've been able to confidently file my federal taxes since I started using MacInTax, then TurboTax for you taxes.

I entered all my information and for some reason Turbo Tax did not save it even as I saved along the way. I had to reenter everything and complete the process. Now I had completed a draft of my Son's and I don't see that in the ready files to continue working on. This causes delays and rework and I am not happy about it. Very frustrating experience. Did not capture all my state W2 information (two states). Just captured the first one resulting in incorrect tax filing. Now I have to file an amendment and even that process if frustrating. Been using Turbo tax for years but at this point, going to change.

In the Miscellaneous Income section, I indicated that I have no debt to pay pack or to deduct. Yet, a few pages later, TurboTax asked me to tell it about my canceled debts!!!??? Huh? I indicated earlier that I have no debt. But in this page, it gave me 2 specific year to choose from (2020 or 2021) to tell it which PPP loan did I receive and was forgiven. WHAT??? What PPP loan? I never took out nor received any PPP loan!!! Worse is that I have to choose one before it allowed me to proceed. So I back tracked and see what I did to have TurboTax prompted me for my non-existent PPP loan. I ended up getting out of this section and skipped this particular portion in order to proceed.

Works but I lost confidence in the product this year. It seemed a little buggy this year. The interface treats the Payer ID differently in the input and review sections for foreign 1099-DIV that have no Federal ID. Input requires zeroes, and review section requires blanks. Interface requests for forms not included in the filing and requests the same information multiple times and at times unexpectedly. Printing form 1040-SR without truncating forms at the bottom was a real challenge on MacOS with an HP 2035. Printing behaved differently depending on where the print was selected. Only "Print forms for filing" got satisfactory results.
