Like TurboTax (do NOT like the pressure to switch)

Overall, I really like TurboTax (I've used it for over 30 Years! [Wow is right]). But I specifically like the “Desktop” version (NOT the “Online” version). I say this because when I first updated my TurboTax this year (2026), I was asked to “convert” over to the Online version. I didn't give the reason why (then) but will now. The “online” environment (and platform) has one MAJOR problem – It can “hacked.” (as you are REQUIRED to have your data [uploaded and stored] on YOUR corporate computer system). I am speaking as a Ph.D. (in Technology) – so I can say (with certainty) that ALL systems can be “Hacked.” So, with that, I will NEVER be interest in going to (and use) the “Online” version – unless Intuit and 100% GUARANTEE that their system will NEVER get (or be) hacked. This is, of course, absurd (as NO system is 100% untouchable). The ONLY way that I “may” consider the Online Platform is if your company would provide a 1 Million dollar guarantee (to all customers) in the event that your system is EVER hacked (no matter how “minor” [or major] it may happen). Meaning, that your company would give ALL customers an immediate one million dollars (per customer) if your systems are ever hacked (not piece mill). If you (Intuit) is stupid enough to give such an all encompassing (and immediate/no question [or excuses]) guarantee then let me know. I believe (from my expertise) that this would be a instant "win" (for me - and others), as I believe you will (eventually) have to pay out Billions of dollars. I'm patient enough to take that "Bet" ;-) Sincerely - Dr. C

to cumbersome

no extension available in desktop, online is way to cumbersome. It took me over an hour to find the location in the software, then tried to sell me turbotax...... if I had not been using for years would change to another software package. considering starting over next year with something else

Turbo Tax Now SUCKS!!!!!!!

VERY Dissapointed that you know longer have It's deductible in your software. I've used Turbo Tax for over 10 years and that portion has saved me a ton of time doing my taxes. But this year you have to go and take that away and cost me many more hours of time to complete my taxes. NOT Very Happy about it!!!!!!!

Desktop purchasing and registration problems

Purchasing the desktop version of turbotax was a pain. I don't want to do my taxes on line. All links pointed to the online version. I was not able to purchase directly from my online account. I had to go to the website directly. The registration of turbotax did not work correctly and had me use up one of my available installations every time that I logged on. I am wondering if TurboTax needs to be run as Administrator? I did see some forum comments related but they were for TurboTax Canada. Other than the above issues, TurboTax continues to be easy to use.

TurboTax Update and Improved Import Experience

There was what seemed to be a substantial update to the product as opened the Turbotax desktop application. I hadn't opened the product in about 2 weeks. I re-opened the product around April 1, 2026, and received the update. It caught me a little off guard that there appeared to be a substantial update. But, I know that importing forms from investment companies worked after the update. Those form imports did not work before the update.

TurboTax is Adequate

It would be helpful if TurboTax allowed the use to see how it calculated each of the numbers. Also I don't understand how it cannot support the DC requirement to add back in muni interest from state other than DC and its territories. I also experienced glitches in trying to amend earlier answers after a physical review

Turbo tax is good for 2025 taxes with one issue

Overall my experience with turbotax was good. The gliche with downloading the previous year's (2024) Turbotax into the current tax year's (2025) Turbotax needs to be fixed. The problem I had was written about multiple times in the Turbotax community.

Some serious issues this year!

I had a couple issues. First one was that I could not pay for adding state returns with my new credit card since the expiration date was after 09 (September). This could NOT be resolved no matter who I spoke with nor after following all advice I found online.. I had to use a different credit card with earlier expiration date. Second issue was that my Oklahoma Tax form forced me to fill out a form 561NR for capital gain deductions when I had sold a property in Colorado. I should NOT have been required to fill out this form according to Chat GPT, since I had no gains in Oklahoma, and I wasn't able to properly choose a "Type of property sold" for question 2 on this form. I had to pick "99" even though this was an invalid choice. Hopefully my return will not be rejected because of it!

Unethical Business practice

I will be actively looking for opportunities to ditch turbotax next year for your unethical business practices. I purchased premier desktop with a $25 fee for state efile. When starting it prompted me to select online and said it was free after finishing, to file would have cost me 270 dollars. So I went to desktop and was unable to import my completed return so I redid it on desktop and when I went to file the option to pay with a card was not working (probably a turbotax policy) so I had to pay an additional $40 to use the refund to pay and amazingly that worked, who would have thought. I think there are now better options than turbo tax.

Used to be a better product

TurboTax used to be rather simple. t is now complex and doesn't cover all I'm paying for, like covering K-1 specific line items, and what needs to be installed. Same with completing stock data...had over 10 errors looking for whether a line item is a digital asset.
