Turbotax review

I had trouble at the very end when it required a final version update which disallowed my return submittal. I did not realize this until a number of weeks later when my credit card tax payment or my tax refund could be verified. Fortunately, this was before tax deadline.

TurboTax program / software is terrible!

the software / program is terrible. The experts were great. I spent over 15 hours on the phone resolving program issues. I want full refund. I have used Turbo Tax for more than 14 years but never again! Turbo tax should pay me over $1,500 for the time I had to waste due to program issues!

Premium

I've been using TurboTax for many years, but this year I got no CD, and I found it very difficult to transfer data from the 2024 TurboTax file stored on my computer. I felt as though I was being forced, by your software, to use the online vs the desktop option. It took me hours of screwing around before it seemed to me that I was getting the same ease of use from the 2025 software version as I had become used to when using prior years CD based software. I will likely not be using TurboTax again.

No ItsDeductible - Potentially Average

Turbo tax is potentially just average. The use of ItsDeductible and its ease of importing charitable deductions had made me loyal to Turbo tax for decades. Now I feel inclined to look at other tax software to see what they offer and if I think they are more special than Turbotax.

Turbo Tax 2025 is HORRIBLE

Turbo Tax 2025 is HORRIBLE. It took forever to figure out how to transfer last years returns, and once I started doing my taxes, I was confused several times through the process. Whatever changes you made since 2024, need to be changed back. I've used Turbo for several years, but doubt that I'll use them again. Very user unfriendly and confusing to follow.

not the best of experiences

Glitchy. The first time I clicked save I lost everything I had entered and had to start over. I got halfway though and had to pause a couple of weeks waiting on info. When I went back in 3/31/2026 to finish Turbo tax had a large update file to download. afterwards it said "pick up where you left off". It did not. it started at the beginning. My info was there but I had to click through it. Even though I saw where my IRA RMD had been entered the accuracy check kept saying I needed to enter it. Very stressful and not the best of experiences and I've been using Turbo tax over 15 years.

Worst TurboTax ever!

The interface was execrable. I've been using TurboTax for almost three decades. Until this year, the software has been straightforward and easy to use with no issues. This year, I encountered multiple instances where TurboTax led me into software "roach motels" -- situations where I couldn't continue unless I entered a dummy value (after laboriously checking elsewhere to determine that the value didn't actually affect any calculations or the validity of my return). The final insult was the $40 processing fee related to refunds--I finally figured out (again by going to other sources) that it wasn't going to be applicable in my case, but would never have guessed it from the way the charge was described in the TT software. I'm guessing that you used an AI application to design things this year and didn't do sufficient human testing to verify usability. I plan to investigate other tax software next year. You need to fire someone.

Watch out for Estimated Tax Vouchers for IRS

Generally favorable experience, however this year estimated taxes were quite confusing and rather complicated. Plus, there appears to be a known and obvious and significant error in the calculation of quarterly estimates for federal taxes that had not been corrected as of Apr 9! The vouchers for my case were about 1/4 of what they should have been, so I will have to manually enter my value and not use the TT vouchers. State was ok. That error could have incurred significant penalties next year.

Pooh

too many updates. Do your homework. 751 !!!!!! times I had to click no as to digital asset even though I answered the question in the interview. There is a 1099R glitch in that you have to manually enter the gross distribution in the state box despite the fact that it is blank on the 1099 in order to complete the return. The interview process for stocks interest and dividends isEXTREMELY AWKWAD AND NOT AT ALL STRAIGHTFORWARD. Half of the time when trying to delete the record the screen freezes and you have to shut down the form.

K1 entries don't work effectively with Turbotax

K-1s are a pain to enter and it never seems to accept the data from the K-1. It always gives me a cummulative loss cannot be greater than an annaual loss comment. I am entring it exactly as I have received. With the result, I ned up deleting teh K1 and it makes no difference to the taxes.
