I've been using TurboTax for many years, but this year I got no CD, and I found it very difficult to transfer data from the 2024 TurboTax file stored on my computer. I felt as though I was being forced, by your software, to use the online vs the desktop option. It took me hours of screwing around before it seemed to me that I was getting the same ease of use from the 2025 software version as I had become used to when using prior years CD based software. I will likely not be using TurboTax again.

I've been a TurboTax user for approximately 20 years and I'd like to suggest two improvements. (1) I'm a single, senior taxpayer with most of my income through dividends and capital gains. I'm frustrated by TurboTax in that I can't actually see how my tax is calculated. The tax is not calculated from a standard table and I've never found a worksheet where you show the calculations. I'm left in the dark about knowing how my tax due was calculated and whether it's accurate. (2) I have never gotten through your foreign tax credit calculation without the final check showing an error. It appears that TurboTax doesn't auto-fill some of the lines in Form 1116, especially 1a and 3a - 3g, for which it already has the information. The definition of some of those lines is obscure, so if you're not going to auto-fill them, you need to provide clearer definitions for the user. It takes entirely too long to update. I am running very high internet speed and a modern computer. It should take that long to update software. I think Turbotax knows that there is a issue because it puts comments while updating like "we know it is taking a little longer than usual".

Newer format is a bit confusing to an older generation. I tried the online version but didn't like that I couldn't save the tax form on my computer...or at least I couldn't figure it out. I've been purchasing the desktop version for years so I can file my daughter and son-in-law's taxes for them. Online version didn't lend itself well to that application.

TurboTax is an efficient way to file tax returns. Imports relevant data from previous year's return to avoid re-entering personal data. Summary compare of current year Income/Deductions/Taxes to previous year. Imports 1099's from well known financial institutions which really helps with a history of investment transactions (TurboTax Premier). E-file return for quick and easy filing.

kept getting error message - kicked up the question to Tier 2 support who gave an answer that I knew was incorrect. Error message was on field "enrollment status" and she said that it was caused by me filing Head of Household. I explained the software cleared me to file as HOH and I had done it the last two years with the same facts and she wouldn't discuss. Called back, got a completely different solution that resolved the problem by deleting a supporting worksheet and overriding form answers which is questionable and concerning

I completed my 1040-SR quite easily and without any problems. The question and answer sessions were very helpful with directing my efforts and I like working with their list of topics. I was able to use all the features of the program while also employing screen enlargement accessibility features on my MacOS laptop.

I have used Turbo Tax for probably 25 years or so .,..however long they have been around. I had more issues this year with things than in any previous year. Trying to get my EV credit into the return unsuccessfully and then having to back it out and file without it. Then I had to do an amended return and for some reason it remembered that I tried to put it in earlier and made it an nonrefundable tax credit. In short I had to do my entire return and mail in a hard copy of the amended return. Needless to say I may look elsewhere for tax software next year.

I would prefer better information and direction on 1098-T and 1099-Q information. The software is not particularly clear when it comes to 1098-T data that is split across the current tax year and subsequent tax year. I would also prefer more direction regarding work in another state other than my state of residency.

It had the right amount of helpful hints to populate the required entries. However, some nomenclatures remain the need of an accounting professional to interpret and the understanding in placing the correct field value. As much as one of the most relevant tax filing software. There's still room to make it better.
