TurboTax Seriously dropped the ball this year. First, it took until the end of March before I was able to accurately enter the values associated with my children's 529 plans, and I had to muck around in forms mode to get the numbers to work correctly. Second, it required a lot of shifting between forms mode and the normal interface to get my K-1 investment income to be entered correctly. Third, I saved and submitted my returns, and then TurboTax CHANGED THE NUMBERS after saving. Until everything processes/clears, I can only HOPE that TurboTax actually transmitted accurate numbers. Fourth, as I sit there typing this feedback, your feedback interface keeps deleting/changing the characters I'm typing in. It's as if TurboTax no longer cares at all about accuracy or usefulness. What the heck happened to this once great product?

The 1099 inputs are very time consuming and frustrating for the user especially if you have hundreds of option trades. TurboTax needs to recognize through the description option trades and ignore $0 cost basis since the net gain/loss amount is already calculated on the 1099. TurboTax also does not allow the user to do sufficient bulk updates on the 1099 form to make the "Review Needed" error go away.

First it only runs on Windows 11 which is an expensive upgrade. So you run win11 or mac OR you use the Web version. Its not very reassuring for all of your data to be on intuit servers. Every time you run TT it requires an update. The updates are SLOW taking hours sometimes. Cant you make a modular program with shared objects so updates are not to huge and slow. Its also undercut on price by several competitors.

I have used Turbo Tax to file my tax returns for a number of years. But Tax year 2025 is the most challenging year for me to file my returns. Part of it is the 1099R amount combining the RMD distribution and ROTH conversion amount. I was confused by the questions Turbo Tax raised to split the two amounts. I made an error and caught it because I was missing Form 8606 although I did a conversion. I got it right in the end after a few passes. Another item tripped me when I filed the tax returns and they were rejected because of missing IP Pins. I had to get them from the IRS On-line but had to use ID.me to sign on to the IRS site. Login.gov is not an acceptable way to login to IRS, only ID.me. A heads up to secure an IP PIN from the IRS as a pre-requisite to E-file would have been nice. The filtering of data thru straightforward questions is one of the keys to get an accurate tax return and to avoid re-filing. I opted to use the legacy method versus the new web application for simplicity and I felt constricted when I initially tried it. There was a point in the interview which offered no way to return to the previous page but to proceed and complete the process using the web application.

Poor interface when it comes to going from EasyStep to what used to be Step-by-Step, as now one can only go to Forms and not land in the context of the form being filled by EasyStep. Poor at managing declaring Foreign Taxes paid for passive income from stock portfolio. The work flow assumes, incorrectly, that one can't have more than 1 country to which taxes are paid for any brokerage. This then incorrectly fills in with missing data and the unknowing user will miss having to manually go about correcting this in forms that can't be easily located due to the poor interface.

As always TT simplified the tax prep process. This year I hit a couple of issues but managed to work through. (Example: I had manually add my CHET contribution to my state return (CT 1040) -- maybe I missed a question or a bullet on higher education contributions.

I was unable to file my State Return in the online interface. I finally had to open the app which was I glad I had downloaded. I knew how to use because I had before. Finally my State Return went through. You need to fix the online interface for state returns. It sucked.

It's easy and great to use! It's accuracy to detail, both Fed & State are indisputable. The walkthrough and questions ask during entry are excellent. It is such a relief to use, removes all the anxiety of doing taxes!! Makes me feel like I know what I'm doing! :-}

TurboTax does not handle 1099-R forms correctly when the Taxable Amount is less than the Gross distribution. According to a Level-15 member of the Community regarding input of 1099-R forms, "TTX messed it up totally this year." I struggled with trying to get TTX to enter the correct amount and bypass the need for the Simplified Method Worksheet. Thankfully, I received great advice from the Community member that allowed me to avoid that confusing form.

Everything went great except that I started the tax return in December to see if I should make a deposit because I made a few thousand dollars in the stock market. I knew my Quicken program wouldn't be correct, but close, and I knew I would wait until February to finish my taxes. In February, I started my return and deleted my Quicken download and started my return. I finished my return, and it showed I owed $1500.00. I went into Forms and found that there were two 8949 forms that were almost identical. The one from Quicken was not deleted when I deleted the Quicken download. In my final review It indicated that everything was correct. I would have thought that TurboTax would have caught 2 almost identical forms 8949.I actually only owed $233.00, which was in the ballpark of what I figured it would be. I was glad I went over my forms again before sending them.
