The main reason I have for using Turbo Tax is that it imports tax forms from Fidelity. Otherwise it's a bit more expensive and not that much different from other software I've used like Block and TaxAct. The support people required a substantial wait and were a bit difficult for me to understand - accent / phone noise. Importing tax data from Fidelity and banks had a few glitches, but worked well enough after a few tries. A little disappointed in the info offered after filing - no comparision with others and few useful suggestions for next year. I used the desktop version up til now, but the on-line version seems like the way to go in the future... no updates to wait through and more questions and hopefully info.

I find TurboTax Premier very difficult to use. I choose to input forms manually vs importing information. I like to have control over my inputs. It is very difficult to navigate where to input forms and the step by step is no help. Additionally, my 1099's from my brokerage accounts have DIV, INT and B all on the same document. You have to input them in 3 different places in TurboTax, not 1 form with all 3 different inputs.

The new version of importing from financial instituitions was terrible this year. You cant pick and choose accounts. The accounts arent specifically identified. You basically have to import all accounts at once vs one at a time. Lots of on line complaints about this process this year. Why would you have changed this?

The product is okay. I realize taxes are complex and sometimes forms might have errors but once I find a bug I should be able to easily report it and know h it will be corrected. There is no obvious place to report bugs, no easy way of knowing when one will be fixed after I wasted an hour on the phone after spending hours trying to report the bug online. Make it easier!

2025 was great. Unfortunately, it caused me to review my 2024 return because the tax due was not consistent with tax due on my 2024 return. My review found a bug in your 2024 app. I had 2 1099-NEC forms. The app only included income from 1 of them. This resulted in a tax due amount error of over $1300 short. What do we now?

The software was difficult to load this year. I clicked on the windows option, but the button would not accept the input...said something to the effect of "windows not supported." I had to stumble around to find another way to load the system up. Also, the product got hung up on my W2 when I tried to enter in the paying institution address. It would not accept the imported input (which seems strange) and it said that only certain characters were accepted, but I only used "acceptable" characters...AND...it wouldn't let me progress beyond that screen. What it wanted (I finally figured out) was the address to be input via multiple boxes. I've had this W2 institution for 5 years now and never had a problem before.

Very good process but just a couple of snags. Myself and others seem to have gotten hung up on the "Canadian pension" issue that may need to be corrected. It appears out of nowhere. See comments. Also there was a note to determine my Capital Loss Carryover for the state return. But there seems to be no help notes offered.

TurboTax used to be great, now it's only OK. They removed the "It's Deductible" add-in from the charitable contributions section. In several areas, I felt prompts/questions were unclear, seemingly almost AI-generated. After entering my bank routing information to pay my federal amount owed, I had to enter it again (each time twice, actually) to receive my state refund; there was no "use the same account" feature. In previous year, one could import a combined 1099 from Vanguard without having to buy Premier, but no more.

Software seemed to be a little "kludgy" this year; e.g. adding characters/letters onto various forms, giving field-level error messages on various forms that were VERY difficult to resolve, etc. Software definitely didn't flow as smoothly as previous versions.

Turbo tax federal return was done correctly, I reviewed the paper copy and e filed the federal return. But I will NEVER file the Turbo Tax state return again. This is the 2nd year it INCORRECTLY listed the amount of US savings bond interest for my state return, which is not taxed by my state. I very carefully entered that type of interest as Box 3 interest from my bank's 1099-int, but when I did the math on paper, it was obvious to me that turbotax combined box 1 and box 3 interest as not taxable on the state return. I'll do my return on the state website so it will be correct.
