I use TurboTax because of my investments. Investments illustrates the good and the bad of TurboTax from my point of view. Assuming that TurboTax is correct in choosing to fill out the numerous schedules and worksheets that it does, then that is a good point because I would never have had the patience to do that. On the other hand, in investments as well as other categories, there is no way for me to check on the numbers that TurboTax generates until the return is completed, so I have t have faith that they are correct as I proceed through the data entering phase.

My experience this year was shadowed by an experience filing my 2024 taxes. The IRS kept my refund for nearly 6 months without giving us a reason. After many hours of phone calls and letters as directed we finally got our refund. I do not anticipate the same problem this year, but it could happen. My concern is that after importing information from the 2024 forms the 2025 program showed a refund of more than $14,000 dollars. After ups and downs during the entering of information the number did not vary by much ending with a figure very much like las year. I did use two professionals during the process, and they were very helpful in getting my information in the correct places.

The download process was smooth and simple. TurboTax guidance is efficient and typically easy to understand. The ability to import documents is a particularly helpful feature. Per the review process, our taxes are done accurately and have little risk of being audited. The e-file process was easy. The only objectionable aspect was the electronic filing fee for the state return, so we chose to file a paper copy. It seems to us that once we've paid for the product, we should incur an additional expense to e-file the state return.

Decades long Turbo Tax user. The software, while a tad difficult to load this year, provided easy-to-follow instructions and assists; when I needed more information the advisor interface was available to get the details I required. I really appreciate the many features of this TT Premier.

I found the on-line version confusing and I didn't see a direction, I felt lost with random questions. I found that I could download the program to my computer (which I surprised me- I thought this was an on-line only program) and that is how I finished and e-filed. With on-line, state e-filing seemed to cost me $39 with no mention of credit, while using the downloaded version e-filing state was only $15 (after $10 credit). I'll be definitely looking at other products next year.

I have been using Turbo Tax for years and this year has not gone smoothly. The 529 program errors caused me significant frustration--had to 'fudge' book expenses numbers to get the correct result--no tax due (until you corrected) I do taxes for my family. Just e filed the second Federal return. And I get a message that I've reached my 5 submission limit for Federal!! When I go to file the next return it better not charge me or I'll ask for a full refund on my Turbo Tax purchase.

Like past year is TurboTax is a necessary evil. User interface is very 1995 and the questions are not clear at times, especially for things like partnerships. I would give the offer for a C rating. I can only hope someone comes up with a better product in the future so I don't have to keep buying this every year.

I have been using TT since it was a baby and this is the first year I had to do the total return without guidance because the guidance wouldn't let me enter our life insurance interest via the guide me feature. It would only allow a transfer from the institution which New York LIfe correct address was not listed. I expected to enter it manually but was not given the choice except directly to the form. I also had problem entering my rental expenses as some categories would not let me itemize. I have not had this problem in the past. This made the check my return feature difficult as it didn' seem to recognize the forms entry. I had to delete some TT made form and make new ones. I also had a problem wih the charitable contributions and also had to go to form to enter.

I've been using TurboTax since the 1980's. It has always been easy to use and the very few times I've had an issue, the support has been excellent. My returns have only been adjusted by the IRS perhaps twice in my lifetime and both times were due to entry errors on my part. I have confidence in the ability of TurboTax to generate an accurate return with a maximum refund when applicable as long as I am patient and follow the instructions and hints provided. My biggest difficulty over the years has been determining what version I needed, but the software features the ability to easily upgrade versions online. I've looked at alternative software offerings over the years and have always come back to TurboTax. Just wish it cost a bit less ;-)

I didn't like that I had to pay additional fees at the end to file my state tax return. That should've been disclosed up front. And it keeps on trying to bill my for the audit defense program when I wanted to opt out. Feels very bait and switch. Or I was force to pay the final fees at the end to file.
