c O U L D TurboTax works fine. On the other hand, the related website is again not responding to attempts at making payment to file the state return because it does not respond to repeated attempts to edit the payment method. My credit card used last for payment changed, but I cannot make the payment because the website stalls when attempting to add a new payment method. This is after at least three attempts, so I have delayed filing the state return. I also had this kind of difficulty when filing with TurboTax in 2025 for my 2024 filings.

So much push to purchase products inside the program now. Also, the online linking is annoying. I prefer to keep my information off the internet as much as possible. Once was a solid 10 out of 10. Last few years it's sliding down. I used to be able to ask a question no problem now it is charge for this charge for that.

There are two areas that are lacking in my opinion, that would need to be improved for me to give the program 5 stars. Those areas are (1) the estimated tax section and (2) the state tax section. Re the estimated tax section, the interview consolidates too many line items to be useful. One has to crawl around in the forms to figure out what's what. The same applies to the State section with the added annoyance that the program asks for numbers that TT already has from the prior year. One more small beef - TT does not give the option to pay the Federal Govt by Direct Pay.

TurboTax and their reps and employees hold accuracy, compatibility, their features, the user interface and providing support to their customers at a very high standard. Thank you TurboTax for all that you did for my family and I. We appreciate all of your arduous work to provide a seamless interface for your customers. Got hung up entering a 1099-Misc I received from Gemini for Staking Rewards. When I entered it a 1099-Misc income it wanted to set me up as a business. I don't want to be a business. I googled for help and it told me to just enter it as Other Reportable Income which I did. Turbo Tax should ask "Is this 1099-Misc for Staking Rewards.....then just enter it as Other Reportable Income.....or something like that.

Overall a good experience filing again this year but one improvement can be made to allow me to e-file next year: Please add the ability to input NRA (for Non Resident Alien) in spouse's social field. My spouse is an NRA and not able to file taxes until US immigration proceeds further and she is assigned a social security number. While there was a question about NRA's in this year's turbo tax product, answering that she was an NRA for the full year still required me to input numerical values for her social security number. Since that is a required field I have to mail my returns and manually type in NRA onto the return generated by TurboTax

Getting prior years un_allowed expenses on a rental transferred from a federal tax file to California tax file didn't work at all in the past (before late 2024) and was not intuitively obvious in 2025. I had to rile an amended filing for for California using the updated 2024 software using the non intuitive process used in the 2025 turbotax SW. Deprecation on a rental property also looks fishy, thinking additional amended filings to come once TT SW sorts out the issues...

TurboTax desktop was disappointing this year. Several sections asked for information with no button/link with clarification/definition of what was being asked. It seems ike Intuit is investing less in desktop version to push people to Online version, but I find the online version unacceptable and will change providers before using it. The state versions were even worse and I spent more time on state than federal this year! HUGE disappointment in loss of ItsDeductible! Intuit - I have used TurboTax desktop for 30 years, and you need to improve the DESKTOP version and add features (like ItsDeductible!) if you want to keep me as a customer.

I normally input data using the "Choose what I work on" menu. Just before filing, I check my work with the "Walk me through everything" script. Unfortunately, I had already filed before I noticed that the software had dropped my "5695 Residential Energy Credits" form from the package. I have a before printout, so I did not imagine this. I remember this sort of thing happening in the past as well. There seems to be a discrepancy between the two input methods. Thought you should be aware of this and warn the user. Thank you.

Don't waste your money. TurboTax has become a masterclass in predatory upselling. Last year, using IRS Direct File was a much smoother, honest experience. It was straightforward, free, and didn't involve being hassled to "upgrade" every five minutes. Now that we've seen how simple filing directly with the IRS can be, paying TurboTax's exorbitant fees, especially their ridiculous $60+ charge just for state returns, feels like a total scam. Skip the corporate bloat and find a service that doesn't treat your tax return like a hostage situation.
