Long time user

Four stars given instead of five because had issue with update download requiring expert help form Intuit. Also down load of tax forms encourage using preparing taxes on line instead of using desktop. I did not like the online preparation, therefore, switching to the desktop format I find up better and easier to use.

Turbo Tax--good but still flawed

This year was a mess as opposed to last year. This year forms from my financial institutions weren't uploaded correctly, and some questions were not correct (eligibility for the Trump account was incorrectly stated). As a result, it took me around 4.5 hours to complete it.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT!!

So pleased with the guidance, feedback and help that TT provides!! I have used it for decades. Excellent quality. I do recommend a longer timeframe for compatibility with Apple products. I've had to buy several new laptops during the decades to be able to use TT app.

Turbo Tax - No longer my Tax Product

Filling out your forms was a relatively good experience. Electronically filing the forms was a very bad experience for me. The completed forms were not accepted with the explanation that the forms were not updated. I tried for hours to update the forms but I couldn't. I even filled out the forms online thinking that at least would be updated. I trust that the completed 1040 is accurate. I will probably use Block next year.

Not as clear and informative as I'd hoped

Not as clear and informative as I'd hoped. Fortunately Microsoft CoPilot was able to answer any questions I had and guide me through many of the screens. Also there were several Learn More or Information links that just took me to the generic help support page rather than the specific topic the link referred to.

Provide more and better examples

I had to ask AI, ChatGPT and Copilot many many questions to clarify my entries as TurboTax Premier did NOT provide enough information on the topics such as "Special case: nominee interest" reporting, and how to interpret the very confusing working behind Investment Income Adjustments relative to my MN state filing. For one thing... TurboTax should of BY DEFAULT checked this box for me under "Tell Us About Any Income Adjustments," because when I checked it it showed that there was an amount that should be looked at. TurboTax could give EXAMPLES as to how to interpret the very confusing instructions that follow.

Next Year Tax Planning
5 out of 5 stars review

Proposed Enhancement feature of next year planning

TurboTax needs to develop features to allow users to perform tax planning estimates with next tax year. For example, I use last year's tax edition 2024 to prepare tax planning estimates for tax year 2025. TurboTax is excellent for next year tax planning, but needs to provide next year calendar dates for estimated taxes with options to update other calendar sensitive dates in current year edition for planning next year edition.

Turbo Tax is a godsend!

Turbo Tax Premier helps me figure out how to report investments accurately. The rest of my tax information is fairly easy but the investments always stumped me. I feel that I am receiving the highest refund I am entitled to (or paying the lowest tax necessary).

TurboTax Disappointment

I've been using TurboTax for over 30 years. Maybe not next year. The price increase was more than I expected and I had issues with the importing of information from last years return. Not all data was transferred requiring me to enter it manually. I'm disappointed.

Updates that are detrimental are NOT progress!

ACCURACY: Very disappointed with the first completion of my return. It showed almost all of my IRA's basis used up by almost $20,000.00 too much reducing my taxable RMD. The next day when getting ready to e-file, I noticed a $5000.00 difference between the previous refund noted and the new amount now owed the IRS. At first, I thought that maybe the rules had changed to allow all remaining basis to be credited to the current taxable RMD (not true) like was done with depreciation of a company's capital investment for that year. Apparently that morning's software update corrected that huge mistake. FEATURES: Entering interest and dividend data this year was a pain compared to last year. Last year both interest and dividends for the previous year were listed with a column for this year's entries adjacent to the pervious year's data. All I had to do was enter this year's data for each noted financial company and then drop down to the next company. Easy! This year the old data was NOT listed and I had to go to an income screen and click on Interest Square and then make my first entry which did not then appear, so I had no visibility of what account I had entered and what was not entered yet. Same for interest, you never knew where you were in entering multiple accounts. I had to look at Schedule B worksheet to see my progress. Why do you make revisions that add no improvement but instead increase my work and frustration???? Third unnecessary Feature: Repeatedly requesting me to fill out a State return for a state that has NO income tax. Some of my friends using Turbo Tax had the same gripe! Your software should know what state I live in by checking my home address to a list of states with NO income tax! Not that hard to program.
