I have used TurboTax for 10 years. This year was a horrible experience. The eFile feature didn't work as it has in the past. Online search reveals this is a TurboTax glitch that they haven't fixed, involving TurboTax requiring both a pin and the 2024 AGI amount to eFile and the IRS rejecting the eFile b/c it will accept one of these but not both. My only option now is to print and mail. Even that feature is not working properly in TurboTax. When I chose print and mail, it didn't print and instead tried to sell me more services. I can print manually from the pdf but will have to find the mailing addresses myself. Frustrating.

Overall experience was ok. The major issue this year was with importing Crypto information from Koinly. They said th .txf file they send to TurboTax wa not updated from previous years for the new 1009-DA forms. A lot of people had issues with the Desktop version, i aper h online version did get an update to accept PDF's. I only had a few evtries so i a not affected a bad as others. Still, we should be able to import from Koinly on the Desktop version the TXF file and have it be accurate. Koinly has tried to work with TurboTax they said and still could not get the Desktop version updated for the new forms.

The font sizes on Windows are al screwed up. Some pages have extremely small font (e.g. help windows), some fonts are cut off, and some pages require you massively expand window to view all the details (e.g. the financial account report screen). Annoying and has not been fixed in years.

I only keep my tax returns on portable memory devices and delete the files from my computer for security reasons. Because I tried to use the protocol that has worked in the past, I struggled to import my data from my last year's return which was also prepared using TurboTax Premier. I had to go online and do a search in order to learn how to do that, and later it failed totally. This year I experienced problems with data entry for Form 1116 [Foreign Taxes Credit]. The Problem is due to TurboTax when in Step-by-Step mode immediately eliminating any further access to data for different countries after entry of data for the first country selected by the user. Also, the order in which that data must be entered to keep the program "happy" is very important. Eventually I gave up after wasting a few hours trying different methods of data entry and entered the data manually on the Form 1116 and its associated worksheets. Also, this year's software would not allow me to import last year's return despite it being prepared using the 2024 version of TurboTax Premier Desktop for Macbook. The first installation of the 2025 software worked to import my last year's return, but thereafter crashed and froze up my computer. That resulted in multiple hours online with TurboTax support without any success. She clearly was guessing and did not know how Apple computers work or even that a 5GHz broadband connection was a broadband connection. She wasted much of my time. I eventually solved my problem by deleting everything from that software and my tax return and then starting all over with a freshly downloaded installation... which would not allow me to import my last year's return. Which meant that I had to manually enter everything. Another huge fault and waste of time.

This is great, particularly with the questions/reminders to direct me to things I may have forgotten or just not aware of. However, FYI I did encounter a situation where the software counted an income item twice because it imported the document twice. I was able to correct it by deleting one of the copies that wasn't actually complete with address info missing. But this is why I use the desktop version because you can delve into the deepest details which is helpful. Had this happened with the online version, I imagine I could have missed it, or could have had a struggle trying to call Turbo Tax for assistance to have it corrected.

The experience was a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be. Especially since I am a) not a math person and b) not a technology person. I did need a little hep but utilized the reasonably priced live help and it made the process much less stressful.

Using TT is clear & the coverage is comprehensive. I've been using it for 10+ years so I'm very familiar with it. The low rating is for a bug in the education deduction section where the 1099-Q from a 529 plan is not properly matched against non-tuition expenses (room, board, etc.) so the 529 ends up partially taxed. I found out about the bug when I submitted my redacted (SSNs removed) tax return to Google Gemini AI, which also suggested a workaround. I confirmed in the Community forums that the bug was acknowledged in February and an update was released in March which did NOT fix the bug. Community posts also recommended the workaround that Gemini did. I will use TT again next year, but I will definitely be running its results through whatever AI I'm using then.

Overall Experience was good. But when I went to pay the state tax filing fee, on the Credit Card Entry form it would only allow you to enter experation months up to 10 (oct) and my main CC expires in 12 (Dec) So this was annoying so I had to go use another CC that had an earlier Month Epiration DAte. Be nice if you could fix this for next yea.

I did it all by myself. I just answered this in a previous review in the program! The taxes are essentially a plug & chug process for me. The Interest & Dividend download/presentation was much more straight forward prior to 2024(?) The current format is unnecessarily tedious to crosscheck/verify between the electronic download and hard copies. The USAA link to download Interest did not work.

Very easy to use, the walkthrough helped alot in the process. the help feature was easily understandable. accuracy was spot on (since i have friends that know about taxes and double check your work) but overall it helped me get through this season quickly and no hassle.
