It was a pretty rough experience using the desktop version after years on the web. - UI not very responsive - Search functionality is vastly superior on the web - Lots of little pieces make life extremely tedious For example, when correcting digital asset names, every time I entered a name it overwrote the description. Using the UI didn't show any context for the question.

I wanted to use the online version for the first time this year (free filing of State return). I didn't because it doesn't include the "forms" method of entry. If you have just a little knowledge of taxes, entering exactly what arrives on each form is a piece of cake. No worthless wandering through a zillion questions unrelated to your own circumstances. It was well worth my $20 to do my return on my desktop and use "forms."

I use a CPA every year to confirm my filings even though I'm taking the standard deduction. For $50 it's worth it and I sleep better. The software is easy t follow though since you can import almost any investment bank or broker data and the program inputs it in the right places why bother to do it yourself. I've used the desk top version since 1996 because I want to see the forms as I fill them, not just at the end.

I have used TurboTax for over 25 years and am disappointed in limitations in the current software including: 1) No ability to "search" your current return. 2) No "in program" help (must now go to online help or chat) 3) Fewer topic help "balloons" within Q&A program Unless corrections are made I will be searching for a more user friendly tax program to switch to.

This was my first year using the desktop version instead of the online. I found the UI to be clunky and often glitchy in responding (often had to click twice to move to next screen). It was also very disappointing that I wasn't able to upload a PDF for the program to process. I had closed an account last year so the only copy I had of my forms was physical and I had input all the information manually. It also makes you reduntantly click to move on to modules instead of just seamlessly moving to the next topic to evaluate.

Frustrating in several places this year (tax year 2025). Import from our investments (Chase) was delayed at least partially because the software was not ready at first to accept the files. - Updates seemed not to get around to having this work until some time later. - The instructions were not always clear and their lack or paucity caused confusion and anxiety.

In years past, I have consistently rated TTP with a 5 Star rating, but I'm only giving it 4 Stars because I had several problems with entering data. The section dealing with my 1099R had to be revisited several times in order to update the 2025 figures. And during one of the attempts, I completely killed my entire return and sent me back to "start a new return", a most distressing occurrence!!! I am not happy with all the revised format changes because I have been using TTP for many years now and I found the new formatting to be cumbersome to use. Otherwise, I am pleased with the product overall, as I have been in the past. I would have given 3 Stars because of my level of frustration, but felt that would have been too harsh on ths excellent product.

we used desktop version - had problems with downloaded information causing rejection of e-filing; corrected by cancelling all work done and beginning again with manual entry of information from banks, credit unions and brokerages. NOT GOOD experience and difficulty with state return prompts although we didnt meet ltcg levels requiring a state return

Found help function very difficult to use. In addition, I find it very difficult to make corrections once you entered an answer to one of your walkthrough questions. Had to go right to forms to make corrections. At time I was frustrated with your software this year. Also found the Trump account walk through completion walk through confusing. Not impressed.

The main reason I have for using Turbo Tax is that it imports tax forms from Fidelity. Otherwise it's a bit more expensive and not that much different from other software I've used like Block and TaxAct. The support people required a substantial wait and were a bit difficult for me to understand - accent / phone noise. Importing tax data from Fidelity and banks had a few glitches, but worked well enough after a few tries. A little disappointed in the info offered after filing - no comparision with others and few useful suggestions for next year. I used the desktop version up til now, but the on-line version seems like the way to go in the future... no updates to wait through and more questions and hopefully info.
