I have been using TurboTax since 1995 and find it very helpful; but, here are some areas that could use improvement: 1) Every time I opened Turbo Tax it updated the software which is great; however, when I tried to continue where I left off, it started me off at step one which was very frustrating. I expect it to only return me to the beginning if there are changes to that area, and then it would be nice to go directly to the affected area. 2) When performing verification of my income from my investment accounts, I accessed my investment account, and downloaded all of the information using the digital process and it had listed several items as individual 1099's where each one would result in a repeat of the pre-described process for the same investment accounts. 3) When it came time to look at capital loss carryover, the software was asking me to go back and look at my previous years return and verify that I had or did not have any loss carryover; I expect it know that answer because I use the create the current year from my last year's return. 4) It keeps bothering me about filing a state tax return; however, my state does not have a state tax return. I expect it to know which states don't have a state tax requirement. 5) Since Its Deductible is no longer available, it would be helpful if there was a csv import option for importing from other online charitable donation software systems.

1. Put the charities in alphabetical order or give me the ability to do this I have a lot o fcharities on the list. As I go trough receipts, I have to hunt for the charity to open 2. the prior method of entering charities was much better and streamlined. The change you made went backward. Please dont change methods unless its an improvement. 3. valuating item donations is less usable. There are fewer choices to select from, and require constant entry of dates for the same bag of items. My question to IT always is, are the changes made because some change is required every "X" years, or maybe a project for an intern? I've used TurboTax for more than 20 years and it was bothersome to use the revised method. 4. I was surprised I could not find an answer to what I feel is not an uncommon questioin. I am retired and have three income sources that need an RMD. But I take all the RMD from two of the three. The total of the withdrawals from the two more than cover the third. This is OK per discussion with others but wanted to see such in writing from Turbotax. Could not find anything from questions in the forum or in help.

After all checks and balances and prior to filing return, you make it hard to figure out how to just print to a PDF so that you can review all information before you go back and file electronically. You don't want to print all data, but you want all data in a PDF so selective print and review

Very good, as usual. Though this year I had an issue with an IRA where part of it was spun off to a new IRA. Turbotax handled the resulting RMD requirement satisfied by the new IRA poorly, or should I say not at all without tricking it. Also sometimes the navigation back to old screens causes the subsequent forward navigation to skip steps. that were previously presented.

4 of 5 instead of 5 of 5 stars due to: 1) User interface has become more complicated. 2) Asked to look up and enter info from previous tax year forms, even though I had imported the previous tax year turbotax file 3) Error message about blank state distribution on box 16 of 1099-R was cryptic and lacked context. Google says that payers are not required to fill this in, and I should enter the Gross Distribution amount in Box 1. Google says many TurboTax customers are getting this error. 4) Totals for short and long term capital gains not available in Turbotax to compare to my statements. Only the combined total was available. IIRC, Turbotax used to report the separate short and long term totals.

Turbo Tax accuracy has always been a factor in which I have had complete confidence. The software has run smoothly on my Apple Mac. The features and interface have consistently made completing my taxes logical and easy to align with the IRS requirements. I appreciate the options to receive support if I need it. I'm grateful for Turbo Tax.

TurboTax stated that it would determine if it was best for me to take a standard deduction or to itemize, but determined before I entered medical costs or pharmacy costs that I shoud take the standard deduction. In fact, it did not allow me to enter medical or pharmacy costs, but defaulted to $0 for each. I had significant medical costs due to spine surgery and a hip replacement which would have resulted in a relatively high dollar among with itemizing. How could TurboTax determine that the standard deduction was the best option before all itemizable data was entered. TurboTax gave no explanation for preventing the entry of medical and pharmacy data. There may be a good reason, but it was not given. Not happy that TurboTax left me in the dark on this issue so I coiuld give it 5 stars. I never encountered this is prior years using TurboTax.

I am very disappointed with this year's Turbo Tax. It took until March to correct one of the forms. It is getting more expensive as well. This year also had a bunch of weird and, it seems, unnecessary questions. You are making it hard to continue purchasing your product.

I was initially unable to pay the TurboTax bill for my state filing using my preferred credit card because the drop-down menu for the month of my credit card would not go beyond "08." Eventually, I had to select another credit card where the month of the credit card fell within the range "01-08."

Not my favorite software and not my favorite activity to be doing taxes. I am not thrilled with TurboTax. The interface looks like something that hasn't been updated since Windows 95. It's a bit clunky. I used it because my brokerage account gets complicated and (after significant effort disabling browsers and turning pop-up windows on, with no guidance from within the software, but rather looking up problems other people are having) it's useful to be able to have that part done automatically.
