We wouldn't expect it to impart the taste of the product into food. However, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. We'd recommend giving our Dawn E-Z Squeeze Free & Clear Fragrance-Free a try, as it has all of the cleaning power of Dawn with no added scent. We recently upgraded the Dawn Platinum Refreshing Rain Dishwashing Liquid formula to help dissolve everyday grease and tough, cooked-on messes quickly and easily, and with that was a slight increase in perfume level. We're sorry you aren't happy with the recent change in Original Scent. We acknowledge that this is the first scent change for Dawn Original in over ten years, and we apologize for any inconvenience or dissatisfaction this may have caused. The fragrance change of Dawn Ultra Original was implemented after receiving positive feedback during extensive testing with consumers.
