Badly engineered and WILL EAT Itself. I've had TWO of these OPAL 2 Disasters. I just returned the SECOND ONE and will no longer purchase GE Profile APPLIANCES ( I had an Advantium 220 speed cooker and a Profile Refrigerator - the fridge couldn't make ice either!

We just received this I’ve maker. So far so good! It is working as advertised. The setup was pretty simple. This is our third attempt at a counter top ice maker. Our previous nugget ice maker was another brand that stopped working after a few months.

We love our ice maker but it makes the loudest clunks, thinks, and squeaks!! We tried having our home warranty company send contractors out to fix it, but 0 out of 5 will work on it. The warranty it comes with is a joke, especially for the price, and cleaning it is a GIANT hassle. And they suggest cleaning with bleach…seriously?! I love this thing overall, but I’m really disappointed in how GE does NOT back their products. I expect so much more from this brand.

This opal 2.0 ice maker is fantastic! Easy to use and clean. Sleek look, and it fits nicely on countertop. Noise level is no louder than the refrigerator’s built in ice maker, so no complaints. It’s great to have a filter easy to get to as well. I highly recommend this ice maker, we have had no issues with it for a family of 3 adults using it frequently on a daily basis. It’s the only ice we use now.

Been using the product for a week now and am very happy with it. I worked in manufacturing my whole life and when opening the box I pretty much new this product came from a company that cared about quality of their product, by the quality of the packaging.

My wife loves this thing. The ice it makes is great. Makes ice quickly and doesn't take up a ton of counter space. It's fairly easy to clean, but time consuming. Holds enough ice and water to keep it stocked for gatherings or everyday use. Now the bad. This thing started to howl, moan, and growl about a month after owning it. It sounds like someone was killing an animal in our laundry room. We have to unplug it to make the sound stop. It'll be fine for a day or two or three and then it comes back. GE, WHY CAN'T YOU MAKE STUFF THAT WORKS ANYMORE!!! Just about every GE appliance we have has some sort of an issue. I knew going into this that we'd have issues from all the bad reviews, yet I still purchased the dang thing.

We love the ice it makes. Overall, it’s not too noisy. However, there is a constant hum when it’s making ice. After a couple years, we also found that it started to make more noise which is likely a buildup of hard water. I did clean it regularly, but maybe not as often as needed. So be prepared if you’re in a hard water area to clean it at least every two weeks. I do wish it held more ice at a time as our family goes through it too quickly. Likely best for a family of 2-3. Probably my biggest complaint though is that if you don’t use the ice in there for a while it starts to melt; and the real issue is that the icemaker doesn’t kick back on when it senses a lower ice capacity. It basically waits initio you open and close the drawer or push the on button again. So you have to be watchful and manually turn it back on. It also piles up as it makes it and stops making ice because it reads it as full even though it’s not full in the front of the ice container. So I have three frequently stir the ice and pile it in the front in order to get a completely full container. just know that when it says it holds 3 pounds of ice that it is probably closer to 2 or maybe 2 1/2 pounds because it’ll sense that it’s full even when it’s not completely full. So overall it is far from perfect but still a reality nice appliance.

This our second ice machine. as we love the nugget ice. My wife is disabled and so we have upstairs for when she struggles to get down the stairs. The machine makes these really loud whining sounds; like it's dying. Going to have to return this one and potentially buy another brands.

This is the 3rd one I've bought...one for the office, once for home, one for the other office. My sister has one at home too. Reliable machine. Makes great ice. It's on all day at the office and we've had no problems at all. If only we didn't have to remember to refill the reservoir, it would be perfection.
