have had to unplug and drain multiple times to get it to make ice. very frustrating for such an expensive product.

The new model Opel Ice maker (2.0) has many new features that weren't on my original Opel model. I did the install earlier this afternoon and It is making great looking ice.

I continue have issues with the machine error ‘Add Water’.

I absolutely love this ice maker. I used it at a family friends home where they had it for 4 years already. After that I absolutely had to have one. I love the ice. I love that it is always ready. I love the extra side tank. My party guests were impressed. This is the first ice maker I have come across that I am excited to use and I paid quite a bit more to get this model and I consider it completely worth it.

We want to love this ice maker so desperately as it makes great ice. However, we went through 3 units, ended up returning two of them and in the process of returning the last replacement unit. Each one eventually began making a loud squealing noise when making ice (after a few weeks of operation) with the last unit making other on and off unnatural noises (beyond the fan and compressor). The GE Profile Opal needs a 3.0 - The 2.0 just isn't cutting it terms of cost and quality unfortunately.

We have purchased 2 of these in under 3 years. The first one stopped working around 12-14 months- we had not a single issue except the sudden stoppage of making ice, after 2 months of trying for repairs we tossed it. And the current, second machine is about 6 months old, and it screams. Literally screeches constantly. We have to leave the machine unplugged more than plugged in. Especially at night, it wakes us up in the middle of night- think phantom baby screams. GE for the price- this product needs to be better. And customer service opal line… either understaffed, inefficient or lazy… takes 30+ minutes to answer. So called beware… I’ve been pawned off from agent to agent and also disconnected… I have received no advice, suggestions, help from any agent thus far.
