Our opal 1.0 did not last very long, so we replaced it with the 2.0 version. so far, this machine has performed extremely well. very quiet, and super-fast recovery. I would highly recommend this machine.

So disappointed with this ice maker. This is my second one. The first lasted about 18 months. This one did not last 3 months. It started rattling and quit pulling the water from the tank. It constantly says it needs water but the water tank is full.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This unit makes a high pitched, annoying squeal every few minutes. Have to unplug it to make it quit. Everything I have read is that it’s a known defect that they refuse to repair. You know it’s bad when there are You Tube videos showing same examples.

We love the ice from this machine. The first one was quieter but only lasted for 2 years. That being said, we used RO water in the first one. We have a softening system and high quality RO. Living in AZ the water is super hard even with this in place. So was agreed this one would only get distilled water. It is cumbersome to clean and descale but the quality of the ice is amazing! Hopefully this one will last longer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a f egg spectacular ice maker! I’ve had it for two years. I haven’t had any issues, but I set it up in its foot and let it rest with no power for 24 hours before initial startup. I think many issues are from those that inbox and power on immediately. My unit makes ice fairly quickly, and produces a good amount of ice. That means the side water needs to be filled more often. The ice is soft and crunchy if you’re an ice eater. If your looking at this, you likely are. This is also a great supplement to our fridge ice maker.

It's a piece of Junk. My previous GE Opal 2.0 ran for nearly 5 years before it started to have problems. I bought this one June 27th, 2025, and it stopped working July 31st, 2025. It needed a Software update? Yeah it still doesn't work. It's a lousy pump that they cheaped out on and now I have to figure out how to return this big heavy thing. Don't get me wrong: When it works? It's phenomenal and I love having it. But a MONTH into service and the only options are Software updates and returns is a JOKE.

Excellent product - friends and family all enjoy nugget ice it generates vice chunks of freezer ice. I especially like it to chill bourbon as the surface exposure of the nuggets in liquid rapidly cool down any drink. Very easy to assemble. Plenty of capacity - we never seem to run out of ice. The ice maker itself easy fits on our pantry shelf. Sleek, attractive appearance.

This ice maker is not good for the price that it costs. This is the 2nd unit I have had. The one I currently have had for only 4 weeks and there is already something wrong with it. The "Add Water" light will not go away, therefore no ice is being made.
