Needs Re-Engineering

I was excited to use this Snow Shovel, even though many reviews mentioned how it threw the snow back at you. Although the Snow Shovel seems sturdy and clears snow to the pavement, it throws the snow straight up into the air, covering where you just cleared a path. I even tried using it with the wind at my back, thinking the wind would throw the snow forward, Didn't happen. The snow gets thrown straight in the air and comes back in your face and the path you just cleared. The shovel needs to have some kind of diverter on it, so the snow can be directed, up, down and sideways. Even a slight angle would help. I feel it is a waste of money, unless you enjoy getting covered with snow and sopping wet.

Great Shovel Great Price

I bought the 4 amp base version of the Snow Joe Cordless Snow Shovel. It works very well through a couple of storms. When I use this on 6-inch moderately heavy snow, it does a good job at moving the snow and clear what I need it to clear. To be clear, this is not a heavy-duty snow blower and it's not a super-duty battery system. However, this shovel exceeded my reasonable expectations and, if there's a downside, it is only that the standard battery charger takes too long to charge it up. I would buy this Snow Joe Snow Shovel again as a gift. I recommend this in the 4 Ah version, as this battery meets the needs for the light duty the shovel is designed for. Great purchase.

Another Nice Product by "Joe"

This is a nice little machine if you have paths to clear or need to do a walkway/deck/ramp. It is powerful and tosses the snow a good amount of distance. It is somewhat lightweight, which allows for someone with limited mobility to use without impacting balance or gripping. The battery life on this is quite impressive compared to other products which are battery driven. I was able to do remove snow on walks, drive, and ramp on three separate occasions without having to recharge in between. While I like my Snow Joe shovel, there are some drawbacks with using this electric snow shovel. First, the sides are a little short, meaning when you are making a pass, snow tends to fall back onto the area and most annoying, snow blows out the sides of the machine. This caused me to have to redo a good portion of what I had already cleared. This could be easily fixed with some attached optional side guards. Secondly, the top chute should have a way of adjusting it downwards, so it doesn't blow up too high (which this does), especially on windy days (in the Northwoods of WI that happens frequently). This would prevent the recoating of areas previously cleared. Finally, the cord in the handle should be attached to the inside of the tube instead of loosely hanging. Getting the top handle together to line up with the cord inside was taxing. To remedy this, I lightly taped it to the non-hole side and was then able to easily get this aligned.

Snow Joe cordless shovel

Bought this to clear a path to my side door in garage, a path so we could have our fuel oil and propane delivered, and to clear out in front of garage car doors. Works great for this! Someone suggested a screen to protect you from the snow. That would be a good idea. Otherwise I am very happy with my snow joe!

Mostly a Toy for Small Jobs

It's mostly a toy. It works for light small jobs on steps and walkways. However, more than 3" snow it is more work to use than it saves using a shovel. The unit is fairly heavy so requires good arm strength to move it forward into deeper snow. Have to take small bites to keep it from clogging down. Wish I could return it, but I didn't keep the box. Would not buy for Minnesota winters of any use. I was only planning to use it on a narrow strip along the side of garage next to neighbor's fence which made snow removal difficult, but this tool is not sufficient.

Works for me

This shovel is lighter than a regular snow blower which I really appreciate. It would be nice if you could direct the snow, but where I am using it, I can throw the snow in any direction and just make sure the wind is behind me and I don't get buried in snow. If you were limited that would be a pain, when the wind shifts that face full of snow isn't fun. I have 2 batteries but so far, I give out before the battery does. It is heavier than I thought it would be so it can be a problem in deeper snow since you have to hold it up and take a swipe or 2 before you can slide it along the ground and that can get tiring. For me there has been a learning process to figure out the best way to use it. But overall, I'm pretty pleased with it.

Snow Joe 24V-ss13

I love this shovel. I had a heart attack two years ago, and one of my concerns was moving heavy snow. This shovel is awesome and does a fantastic job. The neighbors asked where I bought it, and they want one too. I need to replace the auger.......is it available as a replacement part? I ended up pushing against stone I didn't see, and it cracked.

Pretty good on the grass

I need to clear a path in my back yard to go to the bird feeder, and this was wonderful! However, when I went out to do the sidewalk and driveway, the blow back was so bad I couldn't see where I was going and ended up looking like a snowman, covered in snow from head to toe and 1/2 way down my neighbours sidewalk :( The snow is thrown straight out front and that's kind of a bummer, it blows back on you and what you just did. If it was blown to the side a bit, even slightly, to throw the snow to the side, that would be great. Even if it was set permanently to one side, that would be much better. And it is a bit awkward to use on a driveway, what with the turning and all and having to go back over what was just done. When the snow blows back on you, you just can't see where you're going. But, again, it was great on the grass and for making 1 pass on the patio :) Oh, I only had about 3/4 of an inch of snow on my drive. Thanks for reading this and I hope you can do something about the angle of the snow being thrown.

The wind will kill you!!!

It works, but only in a light snow. and you will get covered in snow if any wind since it just throws it straight in front of you, not to the side. You have to turn it at an angle, stand to the upwind side of it, and hope the wind does not swirl on you. And you may only able to shovel in one direction and walk if a direct headwind. All this adds to the work. In summary, I can do it just as fast (faster if just 1-3" of snow), about the same amount of work, and stay dry with a good hand shovel.

Needs hood to direct snow

I should have read other reviews or watched videos before i bought this product. The angle you hold it at determines the direction the snow comes out ! Any angle less than 45 degrees and you will be covered with snow, especially if there is any wind !
