Filter issues

my fridge model, rs22t5201sr/aa, needs a "for use in system da97-08006c-a" (that "a" at the end is very important!). when changing the filter last night i noticed that the box stated the correct "for use in system" product #, but the actual filter did not have the a at the end of the #. it appears that it makes a 100% difference as to whether or not you'll have a huge puddle of water on your floor after a filter replacement. more like a warehouse packaging issue- since the product in the box was not what was listed on the factory packaging.

Exact Part#, Genuine Samsung, Does NOT fit

i purchased the exact genuine samsung water filter, haf-qin/exp, for my 3-month old refrigerator. new filter does not fit. with calipers, i measured the dimensions of the plastic catch (showing mechanical conflict) and catch is thicker on the new filter (batch code a8441) than the original filter (batch code b0431). very disappointing quality issue for an expensive new refrigerator. from other comments, i see this is a known issue to samsung. the link i see on some comments, which is supposed to help you install new filter does not work either. why hasn't this issue been resolved by recalling defective filters?

GET IT TOGETHER SAMSUNG!!!

I bought this fridge because it is a Samsung. There is a water pitcher in mine that is supposed to refill automatically, but it's hit and miss. Which is sooooo disappointing because that's one of the things that sold me on this particular refrigerator. I'm going to need to order a filter now and reading these reviews is not encouraging. PLEASE TELL ME SAMSUNG HAS DONE SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE THEY ARE VERY AWARE OF?

Filter leaked and ruined my ceiling below the refr

I inserted my genuine Samsung water filter. Went out to run some errands. Came home an hour later and there's water dripping out of the ceiling in my basement. The genuine Samsung water filter didn't seal. I have replaced water filters my entire life, I know how to do it properly. Worst product ever.

How NOT TO have it LEAK:

I read the reviews and many wrote that they replaced it and it leaked. I thought maybe they got the wrong size so I pulled the current filter out that came with the fridge. I took a pic of the filter then replaced it and heard a hiss or water sound which I used to hear when replacing my older fridge filter. I inserted the filter with the knob facing the unlock, pushed it in and then turned it to the lock position. THIS WAS THE WRONG WAY TO INSTALL IT, because it leaked just like everyone said. Thankfully I didn't install it and leave the house. What worked was to push the filter in gently, making sure it reaches the back where it will connect. Turn it clockwise, while gently pushing it in like you're screwing a cap on. It will turn until it locks on its own. There was no hissing or water sound this time. This instruction should've been on the filter door. Now if the water already leaked before you read this, do the following first: Remove both drawers and remove all water under the drawers with a cloth towel first. Inside where the filter goes in there's a small plastic plate that comes out, almost the same length as the filter. Remove that and get the water that spilled under if you can, if not, you can try getting it from the side and back of the middle part where the filter goes. After drying everything, I used a dry paper towel to make sure there's no wet areas that I missed and repeated until paper came back dry. It was just easier for me to see it in paper. You're going to set off your fridge alarm while doing this, keep going until you're done. The faster you dry it the faster you'll be able to close it. If you touch the middle area and the paper towel is absorbing water, that means there's still water in the middle. Keep absorbing the liquid. When you're done, insert the filter in as mentioned above then place half a paper towel on each side where the drawer normally goes. I closed the fridge and came back a couple minutes later to check if the towels got wet and they didn't. Return the drawers and hopefully next time you replace it, it won't leak. 🤞

Depending on the refrigerator you have, you may have to reset the filter light. You can do this by going to the Home screen, tap Apps, tap Fridge Manager, and then tap Fridge Settings. Tap Water Filter, tap Reset, and then tap Proceed. Just like that, your refrigerator's water filter timer will be reset.

Seems to work fine

i have the 4-door flexzone fridge, rf24r7201sr, manf oct '20, came with haf-qin-exp filter (says replacement filter is da97-17376b, for use in system da97-08006c). replacement filter matched but said for use in system da97-08006c-a. oddly, the orange store sells this same filter but has haf-qins-exp on the package (but filter itself says haf-qin-exp). samsung support couldn't explain the differences so -1 star. i turned off the main water supply and let out some water from the fridge to relieve the pressure, removed the old filter, following suggestions here: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/tsg01109722/ installed new filter turning a few times before it seated but seemed to fit ok. ran about 5 gals through after, everything seems good, no leaks or issues.

Awful grip architecture

The Watts version of the filter was clearly designed by someone with no spacial physics knowledge. The 'finger friendly' curved grip gives you no leverage to turn it once it's halfway to the vertical position unless your wrist is double jointed. I can't even give the rest of the product any time for this review..when I had to use additional tools to twist the mechanism all the way.

Does not work, poor fitment.

I went to change the water filter in my Samsung refrigerator and no matter what I did it would not totally go in. I put the old filter back in and it works fine. Both filters have the same numbers on them, HAF-QIN/EXP, I bought a three pack, I tried another one and will not work either. So frustrating.

Incredibly hard to install without leaking

I read the reviews. I knew what I was getting myself into. And still I thought: “surely, I can install this filter without it leaking!” Oh how wrong I was. I am astounded by how easy it is for the filter to be installed with significant leaking, and how little difference there is between “correctly” installing and “incorrectly” installing. I am fortunate that enough people have posted about the leaking problem that I at least knew to look for it. So after my first attempt yielded heavy flow into my cheese drawer (which I pompously neglected to empty a priori), I quickly stopped and removed the filter. (And thankfully Samsung designed this so there is no flow when the filter is removed). Second attempt: massive leak. I finally stopped to re-review the other reviews here and attempted a third time. Leak. So I watched some YouTube videos. Well apparently fourth time is the try because - voila! - magically, no leak! I could not tell you what I did differently from the other three times. The only tiny nuanced difference – maybe – is that I pointed the filter arrow as little as possible below 9:00 (just past 90 degrees from locked position) to allow the filter to push into the slot, then pushed in gently while turning clockwise to 12:00 locked position. i.e., don’t orient the filter arrow towards the unlock symbol at bottom left of the filter slot. 2 stars because it does seem to work if you can get it installed correctly (and it does appear to be possible). Good luck.
