Not a Blackstone
When I first saw this I fell in love Blackstone had not yet made a griddle like this so I sold my Blackstone and went and bought this one. When we put it together it was beautiful but then I cooked on it and was like what the heck. The griddle warped one side lifted up so high it was making the food slide down to the back. Eventually it settled back down I thought it need to be broken in but NO it did it again the second time I cooked on it. Man I miss my Blackstone.
Thank you for taking time to leave a review. We are sorry to hear you're not pleased with your purchase! It is very common for griddles to expand and contract during heating and cooling, and in some cases with thermal shock the griddle can warp or pop-up temporarily, but will correct itself. This is likely to occur in the first couple months of use but will correct itself with continued use. You can reduce the impact by only placing room temperature foods on the griddle, never placing food right from the fridge or freezer onto the surface, and also not pouring water on the surface for cleaning. All Member’s Mark items carry a 100% member satisfaction guarantee . Great Griddle
I have a 28” Blackstone and now this 36” Member’s Mark Griddle. I picked it up at auction for $170. It was brand new and was a return. I can only assume it was returned because it required assembly, as there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I converted it to natural gas immediately and now have 2 griddles side by side next to my deep fryer and smokers. This griddle is awesome. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who is considering a purchase. And yes it can be converted to natural gas, as can any propane appliance.
Awesome product.
I purchased this just over a year ago for my farm. Love Love Love it. Rather cook on this than anything else. Cleans up extremely easy. Note: when perfectly seasoned prior to cooking on. Have some friend that did not season theirs and have had continued problems with it. Also a much better buy than my brothers Blackstone griddle that has one less burner, no closeable lid. Actually going to purchase a second one for my other house.
Better than expected
Assembled fairly easily. Directions could be better but it took about 45 min. Definitely need to clean it before seasoning. Took the seasoning really well. First cook was teppanyaki with steak and chicken fried rice and yakisoba. Everything was excellent. Cleaning was easy. Forget a Blackstone. This is way nicer looking and works just as well. And way less money.
Good build, poor griddle surface.
We purchased this griddle to replace an aging Camp Chef flat top that we've had for the better part of 7 years. The included hinged top was a good selling point. Upon arrival the griddle went together well and appears to be solidly built. The problem is...the griddle top itself. The top is porous and not smooth. I figured if I seasoned it thoroughly it would get better, but it did not. After 5, yes 5 coats of seasoning and the surface turning that nice black color, the surface of the griddle was still pitted and porous. The first cook was a disaster with food sticking and residue remaining in the pits of the griddle surface. I plan on cleaning and then re-seasoning a couple more times, but I'm not optimistic. Quality of the griddle top could be much better.
I wrote too much because I love this griddle
I've been using this griddle for a few months now. Wanted to wait until I'd had it for a bit before leaving a review. I love this thing. I've cooked multiple breakfasts, lunches, and dinners on it and always been happy with the outcome. As with anything of this sort you're going to have hotter spots and you just need to learn those. You also need to learn the right temps at which to cook various dishes. I am not always successful, but that's on my, not the griddle. I did have it warp once early on, but did a bit of research and it said this happens sometimes with other brands, too, and it will flatten back out, which it did. Since that one time it's never happened...again, likely my fault learning how to use it. I love the extra storage and the lid. My brother-in-law has the big name brand and he had to pay a lot more to get a cover and he doesn't have any of the storage. I also love the side tables, though I removed the knobs for hanging things as I just use the magnets to hold my tools. It's actually better to use metal instruments on these types of surfaces (cast iron and carbon steel, too).
Nice and Sturdy
This was very easy to put together. My husband and I assembled it in about an hour. Using the app and the instructions in the box everything was simple to understand and follow. Be mindful that when you get to step 12 where you attach B15 to D18 it was already assembled.
Nice assembly app, but some pics could be clearer.
Parts and hardware are well packaged, and the assembly app (replacing printed instructions) is easy to follow. However, the instructions could be more helpful in contrasting similar pieces like left & right side panels. Also, since the rail with top front door supports can be screwed on upside-down (until you learn how the push-pins function later in the build)... pictures highlighting the proper orientation could be clearer. The heavy griddle plate is pre-assembled to the stainless lid with hinges. The only downside to the assembly app is a limitation in electronic technology in outdoor elements. I chose a bright sunny day to assemble my griddle on the patio where I plan to use it. The display on my phone and tablet struggled to compete with the glaring sun. Still, the app worked well, and I am happy with the product. No troubles with any screw threads or panel alignment.
Above average but not quite excellent
After a couple months using I can give accurate feedback. It has many good points. Definitely cooks well. Great size. Has a lid . Really like the grease trap in the front. Good aesthetics. Feels heavy duty and sturdy. Seems like a good value compared to other models with similar features but could be better. I gave it 4 stars but probably would call it 3.5. Some things stand out that make me downgrade it a bit. The lid would be better if hinged on the top. With it sliding half way down the back it is nearly impossible to clean. I also don’t like the location for the propane tank. It sits at the back of the base. It’s difficult to get the tank in and to open/close the valve. It would be much easier to deal with the tank if it sat towards the front of the base. Obviously time will tell if it is a quality product. Overall I am satisfied but would definitely look for a unit with a better design if I had to shop for another one.
Pitting cooking surface...now what?
I bought this at the beginning of last summer. I have seasoned the top as instructed, and now more than 10 times to keep it working correctly. The cooking surface is now extremely pitted. When I clean it off I feel that part of the cooking surface is slowly coming off. What now?? The griddle itself works well.
