Most importantly, open your LP cylinder shut off valve SLOWLY before starting your BBQ. If you turn the LP cylinder valve too quickly, the flow limiting feature in the regulator can sometimes think there is a leak in the fuel line and restrict the amount of fuel to the burner as a safety precaution.
