Poor Design and poor quality

This thing practically explodes K-cups and spits the grounds all over the counter. There is also no option if you make a pot of coffee and then do say a single k-cup of tea the burner on the pot turns off and no way to turn it back on to keep the pot cool. Not worth the price paid for such poor features. I reached out to support and they want me to pay to return it to them to get a replacement. Maybe its my Amazon mentality but its not fair to me to pay more for something defective. They also recommend an almost complete cleaning after EVERY USE. Especially the K-cup as their needle gets clogged all the time.

Save Your Money

i purchased this unit 13 months ago and worked fine until a month ago when water started leaking from under the unit. I emailed the folks at Hamilton Beach about this issue but never received a response from their customer service. I waited over 3 weeks for a response. I am glad i kept my 5 year old Cuisinart coffee maker just in case.

Slow

I really wanted to love this. I waited to review, so I could use it for a while, to be accurate. While using the carafe, it's slow, but you get a nice, hot cup of coffee. Using the k-cup, not so great. It's so slow, a 10 oz cup of coffee is no longer hot, by the time it's ready. It's warm, but if you use a powdered creamer, I suggest you put it in before brewing, so it dissolves. If you wait, the coffee is not hot enough, so you have creamer "clumps."

Slow to Brew

We have had this for 2 years now. My main complaint is that it is very slow to brew single servings. Unlike the Keurig brand this machine does not have a resevoir for preheated water ready to make the instant you start it. It may take 2 minutes to make a single cup; the same amount of time some brew an entire pot of coffee. I also dislike having to add water each time I make a cup; And having to pour it into the top means sliding it out from under the cabinet. The K-cup holder is not as smooth and sometimes does not pierce a hole in the pod, you can hear/feel when it doesn't work and you just need to retry before you start it. As far as reliability, it still works as well as it did 2 years ago. But I'm shopping for a new Keurig now to replace it.

Leaks

Had mine for under a year and loved it. I had a pot ready to brew and noticed water, thought maybe I overfilled, so no problem. Cleaned up and brewed the pot, wow what a dangerous mess. Out of 12 cups, I got 9 in the pot and 3 cups of hot coffee running everywhere. Went on line to see if Hamilton Beach could offer a solution, but you had to agree to cookies or you could not get any information. Are you kidding?

Hamilton Beach 2-Way Flex Brew Coffee Maker

I have bought the Hamilton Beach 2-Way Flex Brew Coffee maker#49957. (This is the second one that I have had) the first was good no problems. The second one makes a loud popping sound when it is brewing coffee (can wake you up). I have it set to auto brew. The Carafe leaks between the glass pot and the plastic lid when pouring coffee. The stream is so heavy when it comes out of the machine that it has ruin my cabinet . Question is. Should I use the Coffee Maker since it's making this noise will it start a fire? If so do I return it to Hamilton Beach Company for a refund?

Excellent!

I don’t own but have had the pleasure of using one and it’s an awesome brewer! Love the product and the variety this machine produces. Bold or regular are your choices and boy does it make a difference in pod(s) and by the pot! Finding what this appliance can do is half the fun. On a side note: 2 items that I didn’t like but can be remedied by company if they choose to do so. 1. Using a pod, you need to fill your cup with water every time. Be great to have a reservoir tank for either making a pot or using a pod. 2. If the carafe is being used and someone wants to have a stronger cup of coffee; when using the pod, the machine will shut off the warmer on the pot AND it shuts off after an hour if no.one is drinking from the pot. Frustrating because the coffee will be cold. Sure you can use the microwave but why have a coffee maker that doesn’t stay on all day? That’s why these machines are so versatile, they gives us choices. Hope this helps and enjoy!

Product Design Defect

Do not buy this. I purchased this and when I used the single K-cup option, there were coffee grounds all over my countertop. I even used different flavors and different brands of K-Cups. I thought that it was just that particular one, so I ordered a brand new one in the exact same model. And almost immediately it does the exact same thing. It leaves a mess all over my countertop. Obviously, this model has a design defect. I'm so disappointed.

Coffee or, Lid really cheap.

I have had this a couple of yesrs now. My only issue is the water reservoir lid, really flimsy and does not lay flat. You have to open the lid all the way to pour the water in and didn't last long. First I had to put a dish on top of the lid to keep it semi-closed, now the lid comes off completely. Still thinking of buying another, exploring other options too.

bad warranty and service

This product is warrantied for 1 yr. From date of purchase in the U.S. but 5 years in Canada . Mine stopped working on the single serve side less than 2 weeks after the 1 yr . Warranty was up . Company refused to fix, or replace it . Oh but they offered me 15% off another one . Right . Canadiens are apparently more savvy on these companies . Americans only provide the bulk of sales to HB. I guess we’re not worth their effort .
