Side of the chair is made with paper fabric leather or something, it got torn it soon as it touched the table or something else, in just 2 days. Its paper thin fabric from the side, I am returning it to the store. Poor Quality although chair was comfortable.

We bought 2 of these chairs mainly because of the Serta name brand. Within 1 week the fake leather began peeling off and after 6 months of use the hydraulic support would no longer hold our weight which is under 250 lbs. I guess you get what you pay for.

Since day one, the backside leans back further on one side than the other, tried disassembling and reassembling with the same results. Nails poking out of the armrests after 3 months of use and the stitching began to unravel a few months after that. A year later the chair looks like it's 5 years old just from normal use. This is a $50 chair at best!

Hello, I purchased the chair June 6, 2020; the chair started to unravel it in the seat area in September now in January the chair has split at the seat. I only weigh 140 and 5’3. The chair is cracking in front and I notice a split on the side beginning. I wish I would have read the reviews before purchasing. The chair only last for about three to four months.

The comfort that you would expect from Serta is in this chair. However, the peeling leather is not expected. It won't take long before you start noticing small pieces of black "leather" on your floor. Soon after, large pieces will start peeling off. Find a cover for the seat and you'll have a comfortable chair without having to pick up garbage off of your floor everyday.

My wife purchased this Serta Manager's Office Chair about 2 years ago for her home office. Since she only uses it rarely, and my old office/task chair's arms were coming off, she said to go ahead and used the Serta as my office chair. I am a software developer who needs to be able to sit for 8+hours (even taking 15 minute stretch breaks every 2 hrs). For about the first two weeks I used the chair, it seemed good. But somewhere after about a month or two of regular daily use, I began to feel pain in my neck and lower back. For almost a year now I have been trying different things to make the chair comfortable again including using bunched up pillows with a bottle of water as lumbar support. I even bought one of the fancy "Purple" brand seat cushions, and it helps, but I have to keep repositioning it pretty much every 15 minutes. Very annoying to say the least. My chair is also coming apart similar to the photos the OP showed. But, in all fairness, we do have cats and they like to scratch everything so who knows if that is the cause. Still, we have 9 cats and they all love to scratch our vinyl/pleather-covered couches and the couches don't fall apart like the chair arm cushions are. A better option may be a Herman Miller. But, in the meantime, if you would like to use the to get by, unless you don't care about throwing good money away, I would advise against this chair, ESPECIALLY for web developers, programmers, coders, software engineers, etc. Anyone who is going to sit all day should probably avoid this chair. Some might characterize this unit by saying "this chair is a worthless, poorly-made piece of garbage. Save your money". However, in fairness, I think this chair will probably last you a long time if you don't use it very much. You might not have anything bad to say about it if you are petite (because the cushions won't compress as much) or only use it as prop. For instance, those using this to stage real estate properties might find this chair a great value. I am not sure if the problem is just this chair, or if the quality of these "types" of chair have gone down over time. All I know if this chair is literally causing my body damage and pain. I am looking forward to buying a Herman Miller Embody or possibly a Duramont Ergonomic. They seem to have pretty good ratings for coders like me.

Bought three of these chairs, for three sons. None of my sons weigh more than 180. two of the seat cushions are torn, with less than 7 months of use. There is a "one year limited warranty" and i called their 800 number and sent receipts /photos to the email, however my calls and attempts were ignored. Worst review I have had to write in a while DO NOT BUY

I got this chair about 6 months ago- it looked well built and solid, plus the Serta name suggested it was a plusher chair for hours of daily use. It is comfortable, but has two different issues. First, the arms are made of paper-thin pleather that tear REAL easy. And once they tear, it is very sharp. The second issue is the piston tends to go out on these- I have had 2 fail out of 3 after a short time. You sit down, and it immediately sinks to the bottom. It will stay if you raise it back up, but I'm not keen in falling downwards at least once a day.

I have been waiting for almost 7 months for the replacement piece. The representative said it will take 10-16 weeks to process and it's been way too long. For the price I paid this is horrible. The handle got a small puncture from the inside out that hurts me if I'm not careful. So disappointing!

I purchased this chair on June 30 and have nothing to report but regret. The first issue I noticed was that the chair would randomly unlock from the upright position. So I would be minding my business, then suddenly go flying backward. About two weeks ago, it started to squeak every time I would sit down or shift in the chair. Today, I've found that one of the seams in the seat is coming apart. In the time I've had this chair, I've only had to work from home for two weeks, and I am 80 lbs BELOW the weight limit on the chair. There is no excuse for this poor quality!
