I've been a Turbotax Deluxe customer for many years and always found it easy to use - until this year. Too many items were updated late into the tax filing year, and it seemed that updates caused additional errors to show up. As a retired individual relying on pensions and annuities for monthly income, I did not appreciatemthe fact that the pension and annuity section was not available until mid-January. This made tax planning in December virtually impossible.

It was easy to use, but couldn't help me avoid paying a big chunk of taxes- not their fault, I guess. I could not get it to download on my Macbook or on my school computer (not an administrator so couldn't access permissions to download). I finally found a computer that I could download the program on and it went smoothly after that.

Couldn't have done my taxes without Turbotax. However, I learned from a Google search that blank boxes on 1099-R forms should not be entered in as zeroes. For some reason, zeroes are used as flags for other decisions Turbotax makes. And it's not stressed that "enter data exactly as printed" means blanks are blanks and zeroes are zeroes. It took a couple days for me to realize that.

It does the job but more expensive than some other options out there now given that the only thing that seems to apply to me is standard deduction and one credit. I'm not sure I'm getting it done any faster through turbotax and it doesn't come with any extra features for the extra cost. I couldn't even automatically port in the content from my last year's tax which was done using a different software (and i used turbotax for many many years outside of the one time last year). If i had not already purchased the software before I realized I did something different last year, I would not have wanted to waste time switching back to turbotax. I had to manually enter way too much information for having a pdf from a different softwaare in 2023. AND for having any other prior turbotax softwaare/PDF

Maybe you could put into the instructions at the beginning of the entries that the user be SURE to make an entry on every point so that I would not have to go back and redo so much because I forgot that this was something that had to be done. When going through a check list maybe return the cursor to the area that the user came from so as not to have to scroll down from the beginning each time. Maybe have your very elderly grandparents test out the program and see how they do.

Normally, I liked using Turbotax up to point when I tried to e-file. The program worked fine until I got to the address billing page, then I could not get pass that page. Therefore, I was unable to e-file my taxes on the 15th of April 2024. I am greatly disappointed with Turbotax. So, I find the program unreliable!

I've been doing my taxes with TT for many years. TT's new format this year for entering / importing 1099-INT and 1099-DIV was awkward. Also, the red exclamation points were unnecessary and a little alarming. The IRA RMD language is confusing. Those are the things that come to mind that made it a little harder this year.

the 1040ES section on my printed tax form with estimated tax vouchers was very confusing. and there was no true explanation about it and if it is a requirement. I also am not sure if my payment for the VA state tax went through. I paid $25.00 to file state taxes via credit card but there is no documentation about my state tax payment.

I appreciate the step by step guidance Turbo Tax provides to get my taxes filed. It's the simplified language that makes it very easy to navigate through the returns. I hired a tax preparer one year and I came back with a page full of questions and revisions, after entering my tax return information into Turbo Tax. He agreed with every change/question I pointed out. It was the first year after my husband passed and it was suggested to me that I not try to prepare the return on my own. My husband always took care of that task every year. With the help of Turbo Tax, I have the confidence that I can file, with accuracy, on my own.

In previous years I've had no problem with e-filing the tax forms. I've paid by credit card for the state return to be e-filed. When I hit send to e-file it would not let me, said I needed an updated form. No where was there a menu to update forms and every time I tried to e-file again I got the same message. So now you have my $15 credit card charge for e-filing and I have to mail in both my state and federal tax forms. You need a system on the menus to update forms. You've cost me money and time needlessly!
