Again, another banner year for Turbo Tax - I have been using Turbo Tax from their first year to this year and have never had an issue. I really love the Review done at the end as well as the Audit Meter they provide. I have had rentals and my wife pass - and in these years I had no problems filling my Federal and State taxes. This year I tried the online version for myself and the traditional desktop for my mother and I have to say the ruling is still out on the Online version - I'm not yet sure I like the interface with the online and it would seem that even though I bought the desktop- there does not appear to be a method to go from the online version back to the desktop version.

The software makes it easy to file taxes and I don't need to spend money on an accountant to do it for me. There were some changes this year to the software that made it a little more confusing entering 1099-B information. For employee stock RSUs, there was no Stock (Employee) option - just Stock (Non-Employee). I also felt like the entering of 1099-B information was not as straightforward this year as in years past.

1) Using Turbo Turbo tax for my 2025 on Windows 11 PC, I could not import my 2024 Turbo Tax info which was on my Windows 10 computer nor could I do so via Turbo Tax online, very disappointing and time consuming, especially since I had to buy a new Windows 11 PC just to do my taxes. 2) Using 2025 Turbo Tax for my Hawaii State taxes, with the step by step instructions, there is a very serious software omission to add my quarterly Hawaii Estimated Taxes that I paid every 4 months. Turbo Tax stated that I owed Hawaii $5,300 & when I continued with the step by step interview, Turbo Tax went through the accuracy check & stated that my Hawaii Tax return was 100% accurate when in fact I had to go find the correct State Form to manually input my quarterly equal payments of $1,900 x 4 = $7,600. I was able to receive a refund of $1,766. With such a serious error, I no longer have confidence in Turbo Tax which I have used over 18 years.

I was unable to transmit my returns during the validation process because some updates were not installed. I installed the updates as instructed during the initial program download; however, I did not receive any subsequent notification that additional, new updates had to be installed. This resulted in my spending more time and effort than necessary to identify and correct the issue before i was finally able to e-File my returns.

The person I connected with for Live Help and I think she gave me the right advice which did help although I would have felt better if I could have connected with a Time Share Expert. Also, you need to bring back ItsDeductible. I had to find another tool for tracking. It was so much more convenient having it in the tool. I would have given you 5 stars if you still had this in the tool.

Maryland excludes a certain amount of pension income (such as IRA distributions) that are fully taxable as Federal income. The excludable amount is calculated in Worksheet 13a and reported on Forms 502 (line 10a) and 502R (line 11). However, TurboTax 2025 didn't include this exclusion as a choice in the list of incomes where Maryland differs from Federal. In our case, TurboTax didn't include any amount in 502 or 502R, and its final calculation showed us owing Maryland $12 rather than an actual refund of $2,400.

I had a BIG problem with TurboTax this year because when I started my return and then logged out to get information, it refused to relaunch which meant I had to delete the file and start all over again. Very annoying, although I saw on some online message pages that many people were having the same problem. I've been using TurboTax for years and never encountered this problem so I was very disappointed.

The software permitted duplicate imports from my financial services company, unbeknownst to me. This artificially inflated my tax burden and caused me much anxiety. There should be some sort of check on this kind of error. The questions can be clunky and confusing. I think you could improve on that. Even it if costs you a bit with respect to purchasing expert advice. I hated the fact that you required TT to be used only on Windows 11. I seriously considered moving to one of your competitors because of this. I think it would be more advantageous to TT to be more flexible.

It's becoming cheaper to outsource my tax preparation versus doing myselgfby purchasing Turbo Tax software $55, paying a refund fee $40, state e-filing fee $25. I may not continue doing my own taxes in the future after doing it this way most of my 48 years of working. There are also several bugs in the Turbo Tax questions that should be caught with sufficient quality control processes.

After downloading the "Updates", the program would not advance until I closed the program and then restarted. Almost like for computer software updates that require a restart before they work. It would be nice if TurboTax would tell us to restart after the "Updates".
