Generally Good

Generally, the instructions were good. I kept getting flagged for a "correct" zip code from the State Retirement System. I used the one provided by SCRS and used on my 2024 Federal Tax form. It wouldn't accept it and told me to file my mail. I had already paid the electronic filing fee!

TurboTax only gets better

I've used TurboTax for several years now and once you get through the new "front end" you recognize where you are in the program and things go quickly. I had one problem entering data for my IRA's but it was quickly solved by a call to the Help Line. I have a Traditional IRA and a Roth IRA. I have RMD's for both. I was asked for the RMD numbers after I had entered the Distribution numbers. The program didn't tell me WHICH Account I was dealing with so I guessed and was WRONG. I tried but I couldn't get to a place to correct the error. The fellow on the HELP LINE took me right to it and I was able to fix my mistake. Also, during my final expert review the CPA showed me where I might have put some numbers in the wrong place and when I corrected the error, it increased my refund.

Capital Gains incorrect for part year resident

Maryland Form 502CG applies a 2% surtax to all capital gains if your FAGI exceeds $350 K. While this is correct for full year residents, it is incorrect for part years residents who received all capital gain in a state other than Maryland. The instructions for 502CG state that 502CG should not be filled out at all if the capital gains were not part of the Maryland adjusted gross income. TurboTax Deluxe fills out 502CG as though all capital gains for the year were earned in Maryland, even if none of the capital gains were part of Maryland adjusted gross income. Krystal at TurboTax tried to help me out with this, but my state Congressional Delegate was able to finally figure this out. I had to manually zero out Line 1 in Form 502CG to fix this. TurboTax should have asked a question about how much of the capital gains income occurred while a resident of Maryland, and no such question was asked.

Great for simple returns!

I have been using Turbo Tax for at least the past 10 years. I like the ability to either let them guide me or work on each area (I use the latter option). I like that they will start my current year’s return with information from the previous year. Saves data entry. I took one afternoon to fill in everything then another afternoon to review and file. My taxes are straightforward - all income is reported, no debt, no dependents, etc. so I do not know if I would have opted to use a tax accountant if my life were more complicated. But so far so good.

Appreciate TurboTax

I've used TurboTax for over 30 years. The missing feature is the worksheet option for multiple entries, such as medical expenses, involving multiple companies or individuals. The Apple MiniMac keyboard and mouse are not real user friendly is several areas. The rest of the system remains very familiar.

2025 Turbotax Delux Was Very fFustrating To Use

The interface and guidance were terrible this year, e.g. asking questions about 1099-R incomes that were never asked in previous years and no guidance as to what & why. I've used your product for many many years and loved it, bragged about it to others. I was so confused & frustrated with this year's version I may never use it again. Pity as you had such an excellent product. I cannot recommend it to others.

Not as streamlined as it used to be

TurboTax used to be very clean and easy to work with. Now there are too any up-sell pages. There is no way to simply say 'no' and have it leave you alone - the only options are to say 'yes' or 'not at this time' The options to e-file state, or not e-file state, should have a third option to print forms. I always seem to owe, or recieve about $1. I am not going to spend $20 to $25 to e-file this. I also had issue with it accepting my W2 EIN number, same one that i had for years. After two updates, it suddenly 'worked'

Helped me for years!

I have used TurboTax for years. Intuitive and helpful. What took a day or two of plodding calculations now takes a few hours. Missing items are easily found and displayed. Tedious information is saved from year to year, so it does not need to be entered repeatedly.

TurboTax Is OK

I like TurboTax. I've been using it for years. With the guide, the usuage is mostly easy. There are times it is confusing. Especially when there is no guide lines. ie: I came across a section with no advice, the section asked for the difference between the federal taxable amoun and the state taxable amount. To enter the addition or subtraction of the difference. No instruction as to where these numbers come from.

Very unhappy!!

I have been using Turbotax for more than 10 u. For the first time I was truly disappointed in the product and the process. First of all, does anyone at Turbotax understand how difficult and expensive it was to be forced to switch to Windows 11. (And by the way, WIndows 11 is known to be full of difficult to understand changes.) Second, when I completed my return, I was ready to purchase Audit Defense and also pay the $25 dollars to file the state return but I could not figure out when and how to pay for these options. The system took me to an Audit Defense screen that displayed my name, address and contact info but there was no way to pay and finish the task. After wasting several hours I had to print the state return in preparation for mailing the return. And of course there is no way to speak to a human.
