Not as good a prior years

I have used Turbotax for the past 15 years and this years version is the worst so far. The step by step guide is very confusing and leaves out important questions. If you are not very careful you will leave out required information. Also, even though I am a Florida resident 9 no state income tax) the program instructed me to pay $45 to download the Florida state program!

TurboTax is fragile

While it is understood that errors happen in all software, the GA SALT Limitation error was handled very poorly. With all of the promises about accuracy, when a filing error was directly caused by TurboTax, the solution was slap-dash, and clearly never tested. Simple, complete, instructions would have been possible if this was tested using a real person. In the end, I am hoping that I worked around the issues properly, but will have to wait and see what the state thinks of my amended return.

Unannounced $100 Transfer charge

I didn't like being told after the fact that i would be charged $100 and $40 as a maryland resident for a refund transfer service. I also did not like that very sensitive and confidential information was being shared with some unknown company (santa barbara tax products group). I trust intuit but have never heard of santa barbara.

turbotax is not as good this hear

still better than paper, but the product has lose needed functionality. loss of "it's deductible" is likely a deal breaker for next year. This process of entering charitable deductions used to be seamless. Now it frankly sucks. The user experience sucks when you have to enter many donations of household goods to one charity. Even simple things like multiple cash donations of the same amount are done differently this year. I'm disappointed.

Love TurboTax

I've been using TurboTax since before it was TurboTax (TaxEdge). Don't know What I'd do without it. Deluxe is good enough for small businesses, Suggestions - would be nice to have the program be a little more touch friendly for those of us with touch screens - like not having to use the bar on the side to scroll the forms - just touch the page and pull it up or down. Used 2 fingers diagonally to expand or contract the window size.

Highly recommended for over 10 years.

I have been using Turbo Tax for over the past 10 years. It's very user friendly and cover all the necessary details to do your taxes correctly. I have never had an issue during this time, only audited once, and Turbo Tax handled all conversations with the IRS and corrected my problem. I would highly recommend giving them a try if you prefer doing your taxes yourself.

Having you with us year after year is something we never take for granted. Thank you for making TurboTax your consistent choice for filing.

Long Time User

I have been a long time user of Turbo Tax, I always find it easy to use, accurate and full of the features I need, This, year, however, I really missed the It's Deductible feature as well as the query that broke down monthly contributions. Would love to see them added back for future versions. It's Deductible was an essential tool in breaking down and itemizing deductions to Goodwill, etc.

too many navigation problems

Navigation is STILL horrible. If you need to check "continue", you have to scroll to the bottom of the page. Put "continue" at the top! Forms do not save answers, especially if you check "none". When you go back in to review, the box is no longer checked. Printing is terrible. There is no way to print the return without certain pages, like vouchers. This review page is a pain-you have to type very slow or it drops letters! I will be looking at other programs next year!

Multi-State Gambling Winnings

The multi-state filing process needs to be simplified for gambling winnings. It is common to live in one state and have gambling winnings from another, non-reciprocal state. Currently, you have to do the non-resident state first. That forces you to buy your resident state. Even then, Turbo Tax is not recognizing both states the way it should. My case is Illinois and Indiana. The Schedule CR is not being created for Taxes Paid to Another State. I have to manually make them coordinate. That reduces the integrity of the Turbo Tax product guarantee. The price keeps going up but the product integrity is not keeping pace. Turbo Tax is still my preferred, but there is stiff competition available and cheaper.

IS the plan to get rid of customers?

I have used Turbo Tax or over 15 years, and they just seem to be getting worse. First, they no longer have the running tabulation of what is due or will be returned on the top banner. Second, the "convenience charge" for asking to pay with your credit card is beyond absurd and illogical. If someone owes 1000, at your rate of 2.49%, they would be paying $31 to file. Considering most cards only GIVE 1 or 2%, it would actually be a loss. Finally, while there IS fine print, still trying to advertise "Free State" without the filing (an additional $25), is another example of being deceptive and trying to gouge customers at every turn. So MAJORLY disappointed after all these years.
