Turbo Tax is Great! Good decision to return!

Great experience with Turbo Tax. I will be honest with you. In 2023, I was having difficulty with the module to physically pay for the California state e-filing option. I had issues going from your app to the Turbo Tax payment app. It was frustrating and time consuming. I ended up trying to contact your organization by telephone but apparently did not reach you. Ultimately, a hacker got through to my computer and created a big problem for me. That experience caused me to switch to H&R Block for 2024. However, the style of the software wasn't as good as what I had been accustomed to expect for all these years (decades actually). So, I switched back to your product and was very satisfied with it. Especially the seamless paying for the California e-file option with my credit card. Am back to being very satisfied with your product. Great accuracy, features are great, guidance continues to be excellent. Interfaces improved per my discussion above.

Turbo Tax is Average

I have used turbo tax for many years so i am comfortable with the entries. I have not had good luck when calling turbo tax for how to enter something, so I no longer call i just try to figure this out myself. My taxes are no longer complicated, so it is pretty much the same each year.

Fix errors issue

Too many items are cached in the software. I went back to correct some things, but nothing changed. Hence, it kept coming up in “fix errors” regardless of what I did. I needed to start my tax return from the beginning. I have not had that happen in past years. It was time consuming and annoying.

Generally Good

Generally, the instructions were good. I kept getting flagged for a "correct" zip code from the State Retirement System. I used the one provided by SCRS and used on my 2024 Federal Tax form. It wouldn't accept it and told me to file my mail. I had already paid the electronic filing fee!

There was a glitch in filing a SC state return

After finishing the federal and state returns i tried to file and ent through the steps first fo federal and then the state. all my data seemed to be accepted for federal and then I went to the state filing process. I went to the link for South Carolina which took me to a State website to make the payment and I did and received a receipt. However, I could not get back into turbo tax to see if the returns were filed. They weren't. I had to use the page where you file federal alone. Then I had to go to state and chose that I would mail a check with a voucher. That worked and the returns have bee accepted.

Product is easy to use

Product is easy to use. My only nitpick is that Intuit keeps trying to force me to use their on-line service, when I always want to use the desktop and they try to upsell to the higher-cost programs when they aren't needed. State return was only $20 this year, which I liked.

It’s great to hear that our pricing hit the mark for you. We believe top-tier tax prep shouldn’t come with a premium price tag, and we’re happy to have helped you keep more of your money.

Turbotax - Great but too many unnecessary changes

Several updates to the product made it a little more challenging to use this year like adding pop up boxes to ask questions that seemed unnecessary. I did not like that the "It's deductible" chart to find estimated costs for clothing and items donated to charity was taken away. I always used that chart to find costs for my itemized list of items I donate to charity. I also miss the disc used to download the product, which was simple and easy. It is much more challenging to download from the website and then adding product code. I had many problems and had to call customer service for help. The Rep was very patient and helpful in getting the product onto my computer. Too many questions trying to get us to buy add-ons.

Not the TurboTax I was used to...

This year (2025 tax year) might be just about the worst version of TurboTax that I have used. For starters, the import of the prior year's TurboTax data seemed "off", with some of the numbers not showing as I remembered them (or saw on the copies). I also found much of the interface to have become more annoying than useful, but I could still work my way through everything and became more comfortable with the interface and interaction style as things went forward. "Fixing things" after completing the data entry took a while and that wasn't because I messed up the typing. My biggest issue is that TurboTax apparently does not support processing or calculations for a certain very legitimate W2 data value (12a = "Z") and after lots of investigation the only way forward was to abandon any attempt to E-File - I had to print many dozens of pages for File by Mail for both Federal and State taxes. The issue is something that I think has been going on for a few years from that one income source and I'd been able to E-File for as long as I can remember. Bottom line is that 2025 TurboTax Deluxe was OK but was more frustrating and time consuming than any prior version.

Turbo Tax Quality is degrading

Similar to my review a year ago, my experience with TurboTax does not meet the standards that Turbo Tax has earned and established over 30 years. i've used Turbo Tax since about Windows 95/98 or Win 2000. i could always count on the product to be accurate and reliable. No longer. in the current version i encountered at least a dozen broken links; lack of Help Information; lack of a Data Source; etc. Lack of a Data Source makes it very difficult to make a change when the data cannot be found. E.G. 1) The 'audit' said i could not have a basis in a leased vehicle on the Car/Truck worksheet. it had a zero (that i did not input) and would not allow me to "blank out" the zero. 2) It did not prompt me or allow me anywhere in the Interview to work on Form 8962.i had to find it in Forms Mode to work on it. i use the Desktop version. it 'feels like' the Desktop version has problems due to integration with your SAAS software model. If 'feels like' your quality control folks did not process enough use cases. A few other tax experts (friends) I've spoken with have had siiar (similar) experience. 3) even spell check in this review is messed up. i just typed "similar"; the spell cheker changed ti to 'silar'. and changed 'checker' to 'cheker'. I'll probably ued (i typed "use" and spell cheker changed it to 'ued') TurboTax next yer (spell checker changed "year" to "yer"), but my confidence in hepoduct (spell checker changed "in the product" to "in hepoducet") is highly diminished.

Why doesn't the 2025 version transfer 2024 info?

Why wouldn't the TurboTax 2025 version transfer my TurboTax 2024 past year information? The comments was that "the file was too large" for the TurboTax 2024 past year information; however, the document was only 8.9 MB in size. This forced me to enter in my 2024 information directly into my 2025 TurboTax forms, which was a three hour operation.
