Nickel and Dime you
3 out of 5 stars review

OK software but nickel and dime you.

It was easy enough to use, but at the end of filing my 3rd federal tax return, my 2 younger children and myself, TurboTax said I had exceeded the 5 returns allowed by TurboTax. I ignored it and clicked on continue and it went on but I found this to be tricky and not upfront. Also it is free to file Ohio taxes online with Ohio so why does TurboTax change you $25 when it is free.

TT 2025, Estimated tax for 2026 calc is buggy

Calculating the next year's (2026) estimated taxes was a problem. The step-by-step method had no way of entering IRA withdrawal withholding. There was no other way to enter tax withholding other than maybe a W-2 or possibly a W-4 entry, which we have neither since we are retired. We had to over-ride several boxes in the individual forms to get the calculation correct for the estimated tax vouchers. TT kept on calculating the total tax without taking into account IRA distribution withholding. We had no problems with the actual 2025 tax filing itself, only the estimated tax section.

Clarity is essentioal

it seemed less user Friendly than in the past. I had numerous occasions where I had to go back a page or two or more to redo an answer because I misunderstood or was confused by the wording of a question. Also, and maybe it is me, but didn't there used to be a prompt at the top of the page so one could go directly to the form and see what had or had not been entered.

Intuit is a greedy company.

Intuit is a greedy company. You did away with the CD media saving you tons of money then you raise the price!! Constantly hitting me up for a tax accountant - Why do you think I bought turbo tax if I'm going to pay for a tax accountant, yet you constantly hit me up for hiring an advisor. Do you really have to look for every possible way to extract money from my pocket. It's really getting OLD!!

BUGGY 2025 VERSION

I HAVE USED TURBOTAX FOR MANY YEARS, AND I THINK THIS 2025 VERSION IS THE MOST DISAPPOINTING VERSION. TWO OBVIOUS BUGS ARE DISTURBING. FIRST, I PARTLY FINISHED AND SAVED THE PROGRESS IN MY C-DRIVE, AND WHEN I RE-OPENED THE SOFTWARE, IT COULDN'T LOAD IT AND I HAVE TO DIRECT THE SOFTWARE WHERE TO FIND IT. SECOND, WHEN I TRIED TO ENTER THE 1099-DIV MANUALLY, I SELECTED SKIP IMPORT, THE SOFTWARE SHOWED ME 1099-B FORM. IT WAS VERY FRUSTRATING!

TT is better than nothing.

When i tried to file I got a message that the software needed an update first. Gee, might I have not encountered some Turbo Tax glitches had I updated the software. The time to remind the user of updates is WHEN THE UPDATES ARE AVAILABLE. Please also remind users to save their work so they don't end up having to start over when they have failed to save midway through the entry process. PDFs should be available for printing page ranges; TT indicates that can be done BUT the result is ALWAYS the entire document.

Good, with a couple of minor glitch es

Two minor glitches: It wouldn't use my 2023 tax return as the base. It would be good to be slightly more backwards-compatible. (MUn beknownst to me, my 2024 TurboTax file was corrupted after filing at the last save, so I couldn't use it.) Even though I clicked on the answer that all self-employment income was generated in my home office, it never entered the 100% anywhere nd told me that my home office had to be carried over to tax yesr 2026. This made no sense, so I went back and answered the questions again. Same thing. So I had to search through the various forms and worksheets to force-enter by hand (as well as the percentage of hy home my office is).

Every little thing is more $$$

Company out to take your money, but puts you in a position where you have to buy more. Transparent costs and stop with the up selling. Also the browser experience is difficult so quit asking me why I don't want to use it. I already spend hours working through the desktop app. Ya'll need to seriously rethink the desktop experience if you really want to go that route and not provide the desktop app anymore. I also noticed you don't have price as category for suggested topics, because you know everyone would comment on that.

Gets worse every year

Intuit has followed the tech business model by requiring an Intuit account. The only purpose for this is to steal, store and abuse personal information and make a target for hackers. This invasion of privacy needs to stop. Get rid of the account requirement. This software should also be available on disk instead of the complicated and unreliable download process

Not the TurboTax I was used to...

This year (2025 tax year) might be just about the worst version of TurboTax that I have used. For starters, the import of the prior year's TurboTax data seemed "off", with some of the numbers not showing as I remembered them (or saw on the copies). I also found much of the interface to have become more annoying than useful, but I could still work my way through everything and became more comfortable with the interface and interaction style as things went forward. "Fixing things" after completing the data entry took a while and that wasn't because I messed up the typing. My biggest issue is that TurboTax apparently does not support processing or calculations for a certain very legitimate W2 data value (12a = "Z") and after lots of investigation the only way forward was to abandon any attempt to E-File - I had to print many dozens of pages for File by Mail for both Federal and State taxes. The issue is something that I think has been going on for a few years from that one income source and I'd been able to E-File for as long as I can remember. Bottom line is that 2025 TurboTax Deluxe was OK but was more frustrating and time consuming than any prior version.
