Have used Turbo Tax for many years

I really like using Turbo Tax and have done so for many years. It is usually easy to use, directions are clear, works well with my computer, and has all the features I need. I have never had an error issue with any of my filings in all these years. This year I ran into trouble with some of the forms that showed "errors" in the final review. All of these errors were apparently the result of putting zeros in boxes where I had no amounts to enter. The system judged these as errors. I worked with three specialists over a two week period to get this all corrected. A warning in the program would have saved me a lot of time. The 3 specialists, Jessica, Robin, an Zanita were all WONDERFUL! They were patient, super smart, and stayed with me until all the errors were finally corrected. I know there were great technicians involved, too but only learned one name - Ericka. Thank you all!

Free download not honored

Great product but I was charged to file my state return even though I paid for the deluxe turbotax with state download. I have never been charged in the past to file the state download which I paid for. This is either a mistake with the software of very deceiving.

Does a great job with taxes

I've been a loyal TurboTax user since probably 2011, and for good reason. Overall, TurboTax has always been easy to use, fast, and accurate. Granted, I do not have a very complicated tax return most of the time: 1040A with the standard deduction so I cannot speak to how TurboTax works for really complicated tax returns. But I have always had a good experience, even the year I moved and changed jobs and had to file in three states and deal with an HSA and an FSA in the same year. My only real gripe this year was some aspects of the UI. I usually use TurboTax on Windows OS, but switch to MacOS this year. And I did notice that the "next" button was constantly "jumping" to a new location on the page as I used the application depending on how much information was on the page. I do not remember having that same experience on Windows, but I did notice that the UI on macOS seemed more utilitarian looking? I can't explain it well except that on Windows the application seems to have a more polished look overall and on Mac its sort of bare feeling. I did also run into one technical issue with importing last years tax return. I had to put my return into a specific directory just to get it to import. Even though there is an option to find the file manually, the import button doesn't actually import it. And no error messages pop up. It just does nothing. The buggy import and UI layout are the reason for the 4/5 star rating. Otherwise, this is a 5/5 application.

TurboTax is great. But have trouble e-filling

I used Turbotax for more than 10 years. I usually print the returns and file by mail. This year I wan to try e-filling for both Federal and State but ran into issues and could not do the e-filling. The issue was the software asked for the zip code of the recipient which I provided correctly but the software could not continue and I have to return to my old method of printing my returns and file by mail. I paid $20 for state e-filings but because it was not able to complete, I wonder if I will get charged. If I do hopefully I can refund it.

too many navigation problems

Navigation is STILL horrible. If you need to check "continue", you have to scroll to the bottom of the page. Put "continue" at the top! Forms do not save answers, especially if you check "none". When you go back in to review, the box is no longer checked. Printing is terrible. There is no way to print the return without certain pages, like vouchers. This review page is a pain-you have to type very slow or it drops letters! I will be looking at other programs next year!

Don't try to trip me up with a last-minute fee

I love TurboTax but encountered a few problems this year. First, since I still have a Windows 10 computer, I was unable to download this year's program. Fortunately I could go to my Mac; however it was unable to retrieve info from a previous return produced on my PC. Second problem: Computer locked up before I had saved my return, and I lost and had to re-enter the info. Third problem: TurboTax offered to take my state filing fee from my federal refund. Only at the last screen did I find out that it was going to cost me $40 to process the $20 fee. So, I checked online and found out there was no fee if I paid with a credit card. That meant going back and changing the payment option. Why didn't it tell me this before I got so far along? That feels sneaky. That last issue is why I didn't give 5 stars. Do better, my friends!

TurboTax does not check for duplicate entries.

In the past, I’ve had trouble importing data from my brokerage, so I typically enter my 1099-R information manually. This year, when it came time to enter my 1099-B, I decided to try the import feature since it would save significant time if it worked. The import appeared to go smoothly, and I completed and e-filed my federal return. When I moved on to my California state return, I ran into a problem. California requires supporting W-2s or 1099s for any reported state tax withholding, but I couldn’t find enough forms to match the total withholding shown on the return. After digging into it, I discovered that importing my 1099-B data also pulled in a duplicate 1099-R—one I had already entered manually. TurboTax neither detected nor flagged this duplicate during import or in its final review. This error created extra work to identify and correct the issue, required amending my return, and delayed my refund. This is a basic validation failure that tax software should catch.

GREAT PRODUCT

Hi, I had one small problem regarding Arizona Estimated tax payments. The Federa Review function / audit application kept referring me to the amount and state of a 2024 refund that I rolled into my Arizona 2025 estimated Tax payments. I never applied any refund into a future year as an estimated tax payment. Took me a few hours to identify and correct. I misread a question in which I indicated that I had elected to apply a 2024 AZ refund to my 2025 AZ taxes. MY MISTAKE, NOT YOURS. Your TurboTax worked GREAT. I'll use it again next year !!

Not as good a prior years

I have used Turbotax for the past 15 years and this years version is the worst so far. The step by step guide is very confusing and leaves out important questions. If you are not very careful you will leave out required information. Also, even though I am a Florida resident 9 no state income tax) the program instructed me to pay $45 to download the Florida state program!

Glad to be done! Thanks for the help!

Had my returns completed except for one area. Software froze and I had a spinning wheel that would not go away. had to reboot computer to get TT working again. Not a big problem except that i had not saved my file and when I rebooted, i had a blank file and had to start over. took an additional 3 1/2 hours to do. But still easier than filing manually. Great program other than the glitch. Was this user or software error? LOL
