I needed to talk to a tax expert. On review of the forms there is an area on page 1 of the 1040-S just below our social security numbers that deals with 2025 Residency. "Check here if your main home, and your spouse's if filing a joint return, was in the U.S. for more than half of 2025." We did live in our home for all of 2025 but the software didn't check the box. I reviewed the software input but still wasn't able to locate an area pertaining to residency for 2025 and called for HELP. Got the help needed and the reason it wasn't checked by the software was because it pertained to Earned Income Credit and other tax benefits that didn't pertain to our file. I was able to submit the return.

The software asks too many times to join audit help and professional tax advice. It was a bit harassing. Also, when setting up bank account information there should be no need to enter it for Fed, and two different states. How about just the Fed return and transfer that info to any state info and just ask for confirmation to the same account. A $40 charge to use a credit card to e-file state returns is an abusive overcharge. Why not have an option to direct draft from the checking acct already entered?

In the past, Turbo Tax used to make it so easy to do our taxes, BUT they changed their software this year and made it harder! The problem area is with RMDs. Firstly, after entering ones 1099R data, instead of asking if box 2a is the amount that you are paying taxes on and always have, the software asked a very convoluted question about the about whether the amount being taxed is on the form, without any explanations given! Secondly, when selecting non-qualified after choosing qualified for a plan the software leaves residual data in the 1099 worksheet that can, and did for us, generate a Tax Penalty when none is required. This does not generate confidence in the accuracy of the tax calculations! These problems should be fixed now, before the end of the 2025 tax season!

I have used Turbo Tax for many years with no issues.... this year it seems the program has bugs in it. My return had to be restarted from scratch as at one point it would not proceed and kept giving me a 'no detail' message that something was needing addressed but when I tried to go back through sections it would not let me and would just continue to give me the same error. Please test your software before releasing!

You advertised the ease of importing last years tax return but it did not import my PDF return from last year. You said it can download 1099-INT, 1099-R and more forms but only one (Vanguard 1099-R) worked out of my 10 forms. Fidelity said come "in October".

The online program is lacking and we wanted to use the software version. TT forced us to use Windows 11 when all our records are on our Windows 10 network which still works fine and securely. A total unnecessary pain in the rear. Also there are many errors in the program—too many to list here, but I will list them if someone inquires.

It seems to get worse every year. Spent hours searching for checkboxes hidden deep in the guts of the software. Trying to research the help function is a crap-shoot.. I was extremely lucky to be able to find solutions, which were often so obscure I'm shocked that anyone found them in the first place.

I purchased two copies of turbo tax so I could do taxes for myself and another copy for elderly family member. Once I got home, I was shocked to find out that I can not install turbo tax on my PC or on the family members PC. The reason was that these have Windows 10 operating system. Both of these PC's were custom ordered for high performance and can outrun any new PC sold today, so I have no intention of being forced to upgrade to a newer computer that has much lower performance. I don't understand why Turbo Tax will not install on Windows 10 (my company develops software and these engineers report to me, so all your excuses don't work for me. My company has to support Windows 10 and we easily do. We will eventually require customers to upgrade, but not immediately. So, I am returning one copy to the store I purchased it at because "it will not install" and I am forced to use another PC for the first copy. Short version, I am going to handle my taxes with another software company. You did not handle the Windows 10/Windows 11 change suitably and I lost the money I paid for the family member... so, I won't use Turbo Tax any more.

As far as the actual tax return completion and efiling, the 2025 version continued to meet my expectations. But I am very disappointed that Turbo Tax dropped It's Deductible from the software without a viable alternative. I will likely look for alternative tax prep software for 2026 after 13 years of Turbo Tax.

TurboTax was very disappointing this year with updates so far behind that we couldn't file until 3/6/2026 (due to Energy Credits form having major recurring issues). I spoke with a live expert who was respectful but took 45 minutes to finally tell us that TurboTax had to release another update before being able to file (this should have been a very quick response once they were told what the issue was).
