Mac & Turbo Tax issues

Issue with Turbo Tax on Mac computer. Over an hour with Support Person. Nothing she had me try fixed the problem. I had to uninstall & reinstall, DENY (3x) on the Keychain Password screen. Spent 4 days on what should have been a one day job! The first 2 days TT would no save my info!

Long time user, but have a suggestion

I have been using Turbo Tax for over 20 years now and am happy with it overall. My only suggestion is to get someone to help you write "Guidance" balloons that can translate said expert info into PLAIN LANGUAGE that the rest of can understand. In other words, the experts need to remember what they didn't know when they didn't know it. I spent more then 2 hours trying to figure the directions on sales of stock/crypto, etc. For instance, your wording regarding crypto ownership is NOT the same as that I found on my 1040 AFTER I filed. So, now it looks like I owned Bitcoin as a result of gift, gaming, reward, etc. - when I bought it outright. How much problem that will be - I don't know....but, if I get audited, I will be taking advantage of my free Audit coverage <G>

Fix your updates!

TurboTax has always been great. This year your updates do not work requiring me to unhook from my internet to continue. In looking online it appears that this is a problem for many if not all users. I have a current computer with Windows 11 but get a failed update every time.

Turbo Tax needs improvement

Trying to import forms from external accounts like Schwab and Goldman did not work as expected. Not at all. Had to manually enter all the data. Screen would lock up after informing that forms had been retrieved and never return back to a functional Turbo Tax screen that let me proceed on.

Terrible experience. Should be free

clunky and not helpful. Everything always has something not functioning properly. Doesnt help you find more money just asks a bunch of useless questions. Non stop asking for money. every step would you like to spend more money on nothing. No direction for where anything is.

Problems worse than last year

The import from a printed tax return copy from last year that I had on my computer didn't work, possibly because it had everything including worksheets. I had to manually enter my 1098-T for school expenses because the program didn't prompt me for it. It also somehow entered a fuel efficient car somehow that I had to manually delete, which had to be deleted because it wouldn't let me efile with it in, and just kept sending me back. All in all I think that the product was more difficult to use than in past years. Also I felt like I had to reenter my address information multiple times, which was not good. This box is entering my typing slowly, so when I type fast it loses typed characters. Also having to enter "Review Title" and "Nickname" before accepting my comments is bad human factors. Why do I need a "Nickname"?

Unclear instructions

I have used Turbo Tax since 1998 and never had a problem like I had this year. I got to the end of your program and found a $45 charge for "Premium Service" with no explanation anywhere as to what this charge was for. I assumed, incorrectly, that I hit the $45 buy the Audit Defense button. A friend and I tried to unwind this multiple times over 2 days. I finally had to call your customer service number. Only to learn that if one goes from the standard deduction to the itemized deduction option, there is a $45 dollar charge. Why would you not explain that as soon as I hit the "I want to do an itemized deduction" option?? Or explain it at the point of the charge? In my case, $25 for my state return and $45 for the "premium." This cost me many more hours than I needed to spend!

Double-charged and long phone waits

Program is easy to use. But wait times for phone assistance are long. Had to call once already because I was charged twice for a state return. Now I've been charged twice again for another return, so I'll have another long wait time calling again. Very frustrating. Also, I was initially confused by the online option, but phone person helped me with that.

Still a Fan

I have used Desktop TurboTax for the last 6 years & this year I went online vs through Intuit directly which caused me to complete my taxes online. Problem developed when I could not find an answer to how to switch to desktop. Out of frustration I did get the desktop & thought I'd have to pay twice for the product but didn't have to and was able to bring all the data into desktop. So frustrating when the information said only prior years could be done this way but obviously not true. Perhaps this could be made more clear in the guidance.

Different this year

The interface has changed from recent years. I don't appreciate or like change and it seemed more difficult to use than in the past. I'd rather the interface not change. There is also a harder sell of services I don't want or need. It's starting to get a bit gimmicky.
