Cut the Bullcrap Upselling

I am sick and tired of your bull crap attempts to upcharge people. I purchased Deluxe with State included and when you tricked me into using online you tried to charge me for the state return I had already purchased. If you don't tone down all the upselling next year it will be my last using TT. Cut the bull crap!

Software questions led me to a dead end

For the first time in over 40 years of using TurboTax, the program did not provide clear instructions for all subjects. The Income Section said that foreign taxes paid would be dealt with in Deductions and Credits Section. The Deductions and Credits section said that Foreign Taxes paid would be dealt with in the Income Section. This lead me to a Dead End, where I had to enter data via individual forms, rather that just by answering questions.

Fix Turbo Tax

The biggest problem I had this year with Turbo Tax was handling the tip income that was not broken out on the new 1099NEC form. Trying to generate a Schedule 1A was problematic. The 2 Questions asked were misleading especially number 2. It appeared that those were disqualifying categories. Needs to be worked on. th

College Savings Account Issue

I've been using Turbo Tax for years. When you report distributions from 529 college accounts, in prior years it asked you not only to enter tuition payments but also other legitimate expenses such as room & board. This year, other than tuition there were NO fields to enter room & board costs. As a result, the program assumed that anything other than tuition costs was money that the parents just pocketed for themselves -- which, of course, raises your federal & state taxes. Since we have 2 kids in college, the extra amount we would have paid federal taxes alone was close to $3000! This is UNACCEPTABLE. I Googled this issue, and I found that others had encountered the same problem. Fortunately, for desktop users, there was a workaround by going into the forms and over-riding amounts there. Nevertheless, new TurboTax users or users who have requested disbursements from college savings accounts for the first time would easily miss this issue, resulting overpaying federal & state taxes by hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Again, that is UNACCEPTABLE.

Turbotax support helped me get around a glitch

There is a glitch in the Turbotax Illinois state software. When I attempted to transmit my completed federal and Illinois returns, the software kept requiring me to go back to IL Form EITC to claim an Illinois earned income tax credit, even though I did not qualify for it. I found this common complaint in the Turbotax Community blog. Eventually, I called Turbotax support, and Diane there assisted me in working around the glitch, advising me to check off the EITC claim form, but keeping the rest of the form blank. I was then able to file my taxes.

Desk Top is the way to go

I had to use the desk top version because the on-line version could not e-file my returns. I have always used the desktop and will not be using the on-line version going forward. Not as user friendly. I had to pay for the state filing by using the desktop while it is free when you use the on-line, which cost me $25.00

Buggy program with missing or unhelpful help files

Software is buggy. After many errors it finally froze when I was near the end of my return. I had to use AI to learn how to recover my work, because the application found no saved copy. The help files are missing or just not helpful. This product needs a thorough review for bugs and poor quality help files.

State Tax Return needs improvement.

I have used Turbo Tax for many years and appreciate this product for my federal return. However, I feel it the Wisconsin Tax Return could be improved. For example, this year there was a question about choosing between deducting state retirement benefits from income OR utilizing other deductions but no recommendation as to which choice would be better for our situation.

I love TurboTax

I have used TurboTax - Desktop for any years, but this year I tried using Online version. I didn't like the Online version as well because I couldn't see the Forms as I was filling them out. All I had was the questions so I wasn't sure where the information was being added to the forms. It made it more difficult for me to do our self-employment sections - Schedule C. I finished with Desktop version because it looked like I couldn't get my refund deposited into my bank account directly. TurboTax has my complete confidence however because I know it is very accurate.

Turbotax online

I had a difficult time to file my both returns due to the system which did not allow me to skip the Tax Audit Defense part, Something in a process did not work and I could not register for this service and thus the payment could not happen. I use Turbotax for many years and this is a first time when I was not able to register for Tax Audit Defense.
