TurboTax 2025 Deluxe failed me this year. After adding the CA State return, the application would hang or sometimes I could get to the next step by waiting 5 to 15 minutes for the application to respond. I used many backups for repeated attempts, stripped out the CA return several times nothing helped. I did manage to file but I am exhausted and spent over 15 extra hours battling with the "Not Responding" delays and lockups.

I am not happy at all that Turbo Tax now charges a fee to efile your state return. We are already limited to one free state download but it had previously included up to five free efiles for the state return. Now that benefit is gone. Really Turbo Tax!

There were a few issues with 2025 Turbo Tax. Opening a new section resulted in several error messages BEFORE I had entered any information. TT kept insisting that my pension is Canadian, but it is not. State return didn't populate until I exited the program and restarted.

In 2025, I paid approximately $37K in estimated taxes in quarterly installments, plus another $20+ in pension and IRA withholding. The Federal refund of overpayment, because of the increased standard deduction was $8.8K. Your software which prepared the tax return for 2025 did not show any estimated taxes due, even though nothing is expected to have changed. No vouchers were produced, even though I will probably still have to pay about $8.5K quarterly. This is a serious flaw in that some may think they do not have to pay any estimated tax for h current tax year, This will obviously result in a major interest penalty. Works in general for filing as a dual status citizen living in Canada. The only issue is that I cannot e-file due to my spouse not being a US citizen and therefore does not have a SSN nor a tax filer ID as she has never lived or worked or owned any property in the US. A tax filer ID application is too onerous. I should be allowed to enter NRA or Non Resident Alien as an option so that I can e-file. Currently I have to print and mail. Also, I can no longer get the basic package for filing, I cannot file online and as a result, I am forced now to purchase the Deluxe Desktop edition at a higher price than I think is necessary.

Disappointed with the user interface. Not intuitive at all, less-so than 2024. Found ourselves going around in circles navigating to specific portions of broader groupings. Annoying that program keeps repeatedly re-asking same questions when going back and forward. We understand dependencies require that sometimes. I'm a software engineer with 40+ years experience. Poorly designed UI. Today's chatbots can even write it better. Just one (of many) suggestions: When editing a financial institution form, always place the account name at the top so you know what account you are in (and also for the subsequent follow-up questions.) Ending on a positive note, content and ability to calculate taxes appears to work OK.

Inputting multiple foreign taxes was not good. Read the additional information and did as instructed starting with the highest and selecting done. But when I then went back to attempt to add a second entry manually, it would not allow it. The second entry was not automatically inserted via TurboTax.

Turbotax BUSINESS will NOT work on MAC OS. Also, don't mistake "Home & Business" as giving you the same capabilities as "Home" plus "Business" - - If you're doing a return for a Trust, for example, you must purchase the "Business" product. The "Home & Business" will not allow you to do a trust.

Over the past few years there have been situations where I have been able to access the forms and edit them. This year there was an issue with the Canadian Pension. Even though I kept clicking NO it asked for info. I think that finally got fixed. I found it very frustrating.

The import feature is awful this year. Software is unable to import my spouse's brokerage accounts from the same financial institution, even though it's different account number and name from mine. We had to manually input trades. Absolutely ridiculous I'm paying for your software and doing so much work.
