For the most part, everything was straightforward. The only problem I encountered was when I went to transmit, TurboTax kept telling me that there was a problem from my 1099R entry. The only way I could get past the error was to enter the "Gross distribution" amount (line 1, form 1099R) for the "State Distribution" amount (line 16 form 1099R). I've never had that problem in the past, and I have used TurboTax for 10+ years.

I purchased TurboTax to get the IRA Roth conversion right but Turbo Tax didn't have the updates until March. Seemed very, very slow to get the updates in place. The law has been out for a long time. I wanted to make an estimated payment at the end of the year - Turbo Tax was not helpful.

Good program, they reduce the complexities, though it still takes hours. Also, there's a problem with how it loads the "Payer's" identification number which I could not fix or work around; it used to be the job title that was coming up as an error every year, but not this time. Highly recommended overall.

FORM 1099 Q IS NOT A FRIENDLY AREA TO WORK WITH. THERE ARE ISSUES WITH LETTING THE TAX SOFTWARE . I COULD NOT FIND A WAY TO RECORD YEARLY COLLEGE EXPENCES SO THEY COULD BE DEDUCTED FROM THE MONEY REPORTED ON THE 1099 Q FORM. IN ORDER TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM OF PAYING TAXES ON WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAX FREE INCOME, I HAD TO COMPLETLY REMOVE THE INFORMATION CONCERNING THE 1099Q FORM. YOU NEED TO CLEAR THIS ISSUE UP. IT WAS VERY FRUSTRATING.

I did not know where to find downloaded information. Quick tips did not help, so I entered the information myself. Also, before when downloading from Merrill, one request got al h 1099s and stock informtion. It was not clear if I had to download multiple times to get 1099DIV and then 1099INT.

After competing all error checks and sending the returns, TurboTax announced that the State return had an error?!?!?!?!??! after error checks? After final review, after hitting the "send state tax return" No suggestion what to do how how to proceed...Not sure what my remove my state return so as to be invalid...I use software that should actually make this easy and bullet proof, again this year not the case. i have been a user for more than 10 years. Not my first rodeo.

The input screens need better a better format. You either go through the questionnaire which is redundant after going through it several times or you skip to input directly into the forms which are hard to drill down from in some cases. Separately, the supporting worksheets that lead from one schedule to another (Sch B to 1040 as an example) need totals showing the sum of the parts. For example, taxable interest is net of amortization, but made up of maybe 6 different 1099s. It isn't explicit in the worksheets how the results on the 1040 are derived. There should be a grid to input to Form 8949 instead of inputting by tabbing down a list of inputs one by one. There should be a way to list your 1099s in a rational order rather than when input. PLEASE fix the input defaults for US obligations v non-US obligations so that you can input the matching amortization to the right category instead of the system proportionally applying amortization across categories.

I have successfully used Turbo Tax for many years, but not this year. I had problems with Turbo Tax accepting my IRA information regarding my RMD. I appeared that other people were having the same problem. Based on information from "Help" sources I was able to fudge my input to get Turbo Tax to accept my data. IRA RMD calculations are a simple problem. I'm not doing that again. I'll be deciding if I will continue to use Turbo Tax in the future.

Early versions of the program (February) were extremely buggy. In particular, the procedure for reporting educational expenses from 529 Plans did not work through the end of February and even after it was "fixed", it was extremely cumbersome compared to previous years. You need to do your own product testing and stop making your users into beta testers.

Excellent program. Makes filing your taxes effortless. I have been using Turbo Tax for many years without errors or difficulties. Highly recommend its use to everyone. Don't pay a preparer to use software to prepare your return when Turbo Tax will walk you through it in the comfort of your own home.
