TurboTax is my go to tax software

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years and have never had any issues with the software. I tried the Online version for my own taxes and didn't like it as much as the desktop version. I used the desktop version for my exe's taxes and it was what I have been used to for years, so I will probably stick with it in the future.

TurboTax software guidance and general format.

The only 2 good things I experienced with this year's software was the help I received from Intruit's helpful agent when I could not get a saved copy of what I had entered during my initial input of personal data and income. He helped me very much cause I was about to junk the software and go to some other vendor of tax software. The second good area was the listing of my charities that I contributed to in 2024 which helped me in that I didn't have to enter all my charity organizations. Previous software asked proper and easy questions, but not this new software. Please go back to 2024's software.

Some suggestions to improve

Request to add an option to input all 1099-B transactions in a table instead of having to do them one at a time via three screens. Also please dial down on the onerous requirements for signing in, nags for extra products, and in general monopolistic behavior.

I trust Turbo tax's accuracy.

So many more questions. It takes more time and effort to get it done. it's not your fault. Even with using the guidance feature, navigation thru the forms isn't easy. When you must answer a question, that is in a column of questions, why does the cursor return to the first one. It forces the user to scroll all the way down thru all the question to find their place to answer the next one. It is a waste of time... I am not a tax professional and need to go back and forth to complete the job. I can't make a linear progression thru everything and you could help by making improvements in navigating.

Goodbye TurboTax!! Not worth the cost anymore!!

Goodbye TurboTax!! Have used for years. The removal of the itemized donation valuation feature has made this software useless and not worth the cost to me! "Help" feature was also significantly less helpful in other areas of return compared to prior years! Received worst refund in years! I will be using a competitor software going forward. Not worth the money anymore!

TurboTax Review

The Tax program kept crashing closed on me. Also, got caught in an infinite loop which required closing the program. Also, one credit card entry screen wouldn't allow me to enter the exp month for my credit card because it was off the page. Closing out of this crashed the program.

Did the program coding originate in India?

I could not file my federal and state taxes electronically, due to a programming error. I could not file my daughter's federal and states electronically, due o a programming error - after I paid for e-filing. the program ought to have confirmed e-filing success before finishing the processing of the credit card. after I entered direct deposit information for NJ, I was informed that NJ does not use direct deposit for partial year. that should have been captured BEFORE I entered the information.

Some sections are still not clear on what to do.

There are still some sections that are not self explanatory and require me to use Google to try and figure out what Turbo Tax is asking and what type of response I need to put. Especially California Capital Loss Carryover section in the State Tax. It tells me to input the amount?? Why doesn't Turbo Tax fill it out?

Very disappointing as compared to previous years

This year was disappointing both online and desktop. The system has a major bug that won't allow entry of SSA-1099s. Tech support tried to help with the online version, but no resolution. I purchased the desktop software AND a Windows 11 laptop in order to use it. Very disappointing that TurboTax has stopped supporting Windows 10...I've been using this software for 15+ years and I did not receive any notice of the change. The desktop version suffers from the same bug in regards to SSA-1099s. I was able to find a workaround by going to the forms and manually entering the information. In addition, when I tried to continue the forms this morning, I received an error message, "Somethings wrong. Try going back to previous step" or something similar. I had to close the file and exit the software twice before the error message disappeared. As a long time user of TurboTax, I can usually complete my taxes and file is 60-90 minutes. I wasted 2 hours yesterday online and 90 minutes or so this morning. Features , Interface and guidance remain good overall (with exception of the bugs), otherwise I would have rated the software 2 stars at best. I assume the software is accurate: I guess the IRS will tell us since it is filed. VERY FRUSTRATING AND DISAPPOINTING OVERALL THIS YEAR. I should note that the online software tech support person, Jasmine, was polite and professional.

TT Too many steps to verify my id

To transfer 2024 info to 2025, you might tell us to update 2024, open and save the return, and relaunch 2025. Very frustrating when 2024 is dropped into place and it is rejected. UPDATE: after 2 successful returns, the 3rd revealed a BUG in the program, which I solved while on the phone with TT support. The SAVE command caused the program to crash. The SAVE without password worked but still there's a bug for those that prefer password protection.
