Turbotax did not catch DUPLICATE 1099

I mistakenly entered the exact same 1099 form from my financial company twice and Turbotax Premier added it in both times, costing me an additionalm $528 on my Fed. tax and additional $179 0n my state tax. I already filed both Fed and State and already received refund from state which did not catch error. I am very disappinted and shocked that Turbotax did not flag this duplicate form 1099. Now I have to file an amended return on both Fed and State. I'm not paying for more support from Turbotax to fix a problem it should have caught before I filed.

Turbo Tax too difficult for 85 year old

Step by Step has become more confusing in recent years. Want to be able to return to specific step instead of being required to go through dozen pages or more in order to review or correct. Explanations are hard to follow. Uploading information directly from banks and brokerage accounts is too complicated and fewer banks [e.g. Mechanics] are listed. Have been able to upload from Bank America in past; this year all efforts to do so froze and I had to enter information manually.

Not Happy

I had to wait on Turbo Tax to update depreciations before I could file. I also had an issue getting my last year's return linked. It took me several week and about 5-7 hours total trying to accomplish this before I coul file my return. Would you be happy?

BUG matching 529 withdrawals non-tuition expenses

Using TT is clear & the coverage is comprehensive. I've been using it for 10+ years so I'm very familiar with it. The low rating is for a bug in the education deduction section where the 1099-Q from a 529 plan is not properly matched against non-tuition expenses (room, board, etc.) so the 529 ends up partially taxed. I found out about the bug when I submitted my redacted (SSNs removed) tax return to Google Gemini AI, which also suggested a workaround. I confirmed in the Community forums that the bug was acknowledged in February and an update was released in March which did NOT fix the bug. Community posts also recommended the workaround that Gemini did. I will use TT again next year, but I will definitely be running its results through whatever AI I'm using then.

Outdated app

I've used TurboTax for many years. Will not any more from next year. The app is so outdated. Constantly needs update. Random errors. Smart Check tells me there is an error at form 2241 but no explanation or link to where it is - something very basic this day and age. Even typing this review feels stupid - it constantly moves the cursor to the end. There is a new app every year and I can't even delete them. It's becoming just ridiculous. One big draw was to share with 5 family members and that got killed last year.

Old time user

I have been using TurboTax since it was called MacInTax. I prefer to do my own personal bookkeeping (Quicken) and taxes. ... and I really really really prefer doing it on my Mac rather than online. The ability to download my brokerage accounts is huge help. Schedule K-1s for publicly traded LLCs are a huge pain to do by handout maybe soon

Turbotax is excellent

I engaged -- several times -- with Darlene D because she is so clear and easy to work with. She was patient with my errors and helped me understand lots of points about how Turbotax works. I enjoyed her good cheer and clarity. She went the extra mile. We made several "dates" so I could be sure to get her help.

TurboTax is good

Been using TurboTax for several years. On the Mac edition, I would make it easier to enlarge the fonts on the screen. I did find a way, that is easy, but, as a newish Mac user, I had to ask Google. I would also like to have the background screen have less white. It's bright on my old eyes. Perhaps another background color.

Not as good as previous years.

Not as intuitive as previous years. Could not electronically pull in data from investment companies like JPM or Fidelity. Got "flags" in the summary view that my entries for IRAs and pension "Needed Review" but no links or instructions of how to do that or why it was being flagged.

Turbo Tax deficiencies

When I was forced to prepare my return using Turbo Tax Online (TTO) so that the tax expert could review it, TTO flagged several areas which I needed to look at which Turbo Tax Desktop (TTD) didn't. Neither the online version or the desktop version filled in all of the entries from my 1099 DIVs. According to the tax expert, I had to add a duplicate in order for TTO to enter the missing information (since TTD didn't enter the information, I'm assuming it's the same. In order to file the most accurate return possible and to avoid any possible issues with failure to report income, Turbo Tax should fill in every field which has data entered. Neither TTO nor TTD support derivatives. Both flagged sales where the cost basis was $0 which is common (BTW, I wouldn't have seen this if I hadn't asked the expert to take a look at my return. TTD flagged this but it didn't display during the review.)
