I love TurboTax and plan to continue to use. The only issue I've had came up this year as I needed to use Form 5329 and it wasn't available on the on-line version. So after all the years using the online version I will have one year not included in my online history. I've been told that I will not be able to upload this years into my online account so that's unfortunate. Hopefully the Form becomes available in future years' online version.

IT GETS WORSE EVERY YEAR... ONLY REASON I USE IT IS I THINK IT WILL IMPROVE, AND YOU NEVER KNOW UNTIL YOU'VE SPENT YOUR MONEY AND ARE INTO THE 2ND PAGE.WWWRRROOONNNG AGAIN . THIS YEAR'S WAS THE WORST YET. THANK GOODNESS FOR CHAT WHO EXPLAINED WHAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO DO!! IT USED TO BE SO EASY YEARS AGO. WHAT HAPPENED? I AM GOING TO JUST GVE IT TO A TAX MAN OR WOMAN EVEN THOUGH I DO NOT MIND DOING IT MYSELF IF I HAVE THE OLD PROGRAM FROM 8 YEARS AGO, SIMPLE AND ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS EDIT THE LAST YEARS RETURN ENTRIES WHICH WERE LISTED AND POPULATED AND ANSWER A FEW QUESTIONS!!! IT JUST GETS WORSE AND MORE CONFUSING EVERY YEAR.

It seems like this year, TurboTax had some features removed. This is my second year of using TurboTax for Mac rather than Windows. Word is, the Mac version is not as user friendly as the Windows one. But, this time, when I used the Mac version, I discovered that I could no longer specify which documents to print. I like to print just the documents for filing for my records, and save a .pdf of all of the forms and worksheets for reference. No more! Another feature that disappeared was that I could work on two returns in the same download. The names of the two people would appear when I first opened TurboTax and I could click on the name I wanted to work on. Now, if several days had passed since I had worked on the return, when I click on the icon, a new form appears and I have to search for the one I was using. At first, I thought that I had lost all of my entries. Regarding the price, the price of previous editions included a disc or download at no extra charge. Not the 2025 edition! I had to cough up an additional $45 to download TurboTax for the Mac, on top of the $80+ purchase price!

The UI/UX on this version of TurboTax was terrible. It started off by constant reminders to do taxes online. I don't want to! The section on income/investments was confusing and unclear as to what was done and what needed review. The app constantly threw modals up asking for feedback. Just stop. Also, the typeface and leading were terrible small/tight and not adjustable.

TurboTax desktop: Install is problematic on Windows 11. Not to mention the TurboTax update just hangs and had to reinstall to workaround the issue by downloading the updated version. In the midway trying to launch the TurboTax program on windows 11 it gets blocked. There is no way run it even with Admin Privilege.

The state returns--at least VA and CA--produce inaccurate results. CA fails to create accurate forms although the end amount of tax seems correct for non-resident returns. VA does not handle deduction for long term care correctly. It asks for premiums for each spouse and then only uses of them. VA instructions indicate that both are deductible.

I've used TurboTax since the 1990s, and it gets better each year. The interface is easy with their 'walk me through' method, or you can just go straight to the forms that you want to work on. The calculations are guaranteed, and support is available for questions online. Filing online is quick, secure, and easy. All I need to do is make sure I've got all my information ready to start. If I'm missing something, I can flag that item to return to later.

I like that TurboTax shows me last years number versus the current year. This feature is super helpful and boosts my confidence that I got everything. I like that I can import much of my data from my brokerage and payroll provider. The extra validation checks are re-assuring like the audit risk meter and such. Why not five stars? A couple years ago I filed using the online/web product. TurboTax didn't tell me how much it would cost until I had already completed my taxes and was ready to file. I was charged more than twice as much as the desktop product for pretty much the same return as the previous year. I felt so betrayed, but I wasn't ready to spend another four hours doing it all over. Never again! In addition TurboTax doesn't seem to innovate very much from year to year. I feel like I'm only getting tax law updates between versions. That's essential but I consider it tables stakes for a tax product in 2026. What would be innovative? Build a helper AI agent custom trained or with RAG so I get answers to my tax questions with the latest info from the IRS. For example I had no idea what "qualified business income" was. Qualified for what? to win a pony? I went to the IRS site, looked up qualified business income for schedule C and then feed that along with my circumstances to ChatGPT to get a plain English answer and recommendation for how to answer. TurboTax could have done all that for me via a baked-in AI agent and said "The TurboTax agent recommends that you say yes based on your tax circumstances". It could have then provided the data sources with all the usual AI hallucinates disclaimers.

This is the first year I wasn't completely satisfied with Turbo Tax. I had to figure out on my own that I had o upgrade to Premier to get the feature I needed to file my taxes. Software works well with Win 11. I did have to contact support but I figured out the issue before they called back. They did call back sooner than promised.

Turbotax is less intuitive than ever. Questions are not clear. Needed options are hidden. Help button is a robo thing that doesn't help at all, nor does the "community." The agent tried very hard to help me for 90 minutes and was kind and patient, but "not a tax expert." Because the problem I had was with TurboTax, they did let me eventually speak to a real tax expert without the crazy extra fee and she was able to help me.
