Frustated on several fronts. RMD calculation after every IRA distribution is misleading and difficult to work around This took me hours to resolve. No ability to fix spelling errors on names of financial institutions without deleting everything and having to start over I have used TurboTax exclusively for many years with minimal problems. This year was disappointing and frustrating. Though I was finally able to complete my taxes and file, the process did not run smoothly as in the past. See the list below: Difficulty getting updates to Mac software when not using online system resulting in inability to file in a timely manner. Had to search online to find the right answer Unable to go backwards from some pages, resulting in starting at the beginning again It's Deductible screen so small that full listing item not visible and when selected an item, sometimes to took and sometimes it did not. System was unbelievably slow When using print function, TurboTax does not communicate with my wireless printer. Have no idea where it is printing.

I have done our taxs since my wife and I got married, 44 years ago. I switched from H&R Block to TurboTax because my wife inherited Cedar Fair stock that issues a K-1 which at times was difficult to input the data in H&R Block. TurboTax handled the data input well until last year, 2024 when my wife sold her shares. I bought the Premier version of TurboTax which handled the K-1 data in previous years. This year I had to buy an additional $60 service because the Premier version of TurboTax would not accept one one of the entries which it had in previous years. 20Z, Section 199A Publicly Traded Partnership Income, -$512. The assistant was very helpful, she had seen this problem before. Instead of entering the data at it's typical prompt, I needed to leave ithat entry blank and enter data two pages later?? Why didn't the TurboTax program direct me to the appropriate place to enter the data? Until this issue I have been very pleased TurboTax. I am writing this review in hopes that this issue will be addressed.

I love the way turbotax carries over my information from prior tax year. I did have a bit of trouble finding the forms for contracts and straddles this year. Also, I wish it were easier to click on a box and have it take you directly to the form if you wanted to type in the information yourself rather than answer the questions as there were a few questions that didn't seem to fit exactly. Overall we love using turbotax. We started using the product back when it came with a Itemize It to track your deductions. I am not sure if this is still an option as deductions take a long time for me. However, will keep using Turbotax and always recommend it to friends and family.

The overall products works very well. I have not issues about the product. However, after paying for this service, Turbo Tax not only charges $60 to ask a question to a tax advisor and charges $25 to file the state tax return electronically. Having been in the technology industry, the cost of sending an item electronically should not be charged as it should be part of the cost of buying your service.

Turbo Tax detail walk through is easy and cover all essential portion of Tax Return. Some areas need more explanations or hints. For example, RMD distribution splits between two different institutions some questions or amount fill area were confusing and Turbotax does wrong calculation for the total RMD distribution and Tax calculation. One need to be very very careful how to check marks or answers Turbotax questions.

Download from Fidelity Investments is burdensome. Difficulty deleting 1099's that were downloaded in error. The aggregate profit or loss on Section 1256 Option Contracts does not get downloaded from the Fidelity 1099 & reported in the tax return. However, its is reported to the IRS. I noticed it this year & manually fixed, but I did not notice it in 2023 & I will now need to file amended returns for 2023

You really took a step backwards this year. The investment import and presentation on your screens is very poor. Also, there's no way to tell if the information was imported once or twice. Search was horrendous also. I searched for how to delete a (duplicated) form and got no help at all from the search function. Fortunately, I clicked through all the choices at the top of the tab (file, print, view, etc.) and found a "delete form" choice. I also searched for "IP PIN", but the choices were quite cryptic. I'm thinking of changing next year because the product is moving away from user-friently.

I sucks. Lacks adequate information for updating identify pin for federal filing. Would not allow me to switch to mail return for tax. When I tried to print for mail in filing, it printed documents as though I efiled. I wasted 2 hours and am very frustrated. Even instructions on ChatGPT to switch to mail does not match what I see in drop down menu

I have used TurboTax for quite a few years. I have seen many significant improvements through the years. I never got any auditing from IRS because the use of this software. However, I do see something that could give taxpayers more convenient. That is to include as many finance institutions, investment brokers and banks as possible in your download list for tax docs. For example, Capital one bank does not seem to be in your download list for the tax docs . This was only bank (I think it is pretty big one) I had to use manual way to fill. The other was social security tax form. Hopefully IA could help you to make it even more robotic and error free. There is a serious shortcoming: Turbo Tax cannot completely upload long Fidelity Investment Forms 1099-B. I wasted many hours trying to fix this before coming up with a workaround. I used my Quicken data which, unfortunately, is not as accurate as the Fidelity Investment data.
