TurboTax is helpful

Overall, TurboTax is a solid tool that makes tax filing relatively easy and straightforward. I’ve been using it for several years and appreciate how it walks you through each step. However, one thing that consistently bothers me is having to re-enter my driver’s license information and current address every time I file. It feels like something that should be securely saved from the previous year to save time and reduce repetitive input. Still, it gets the job done, and I’ll probably keep using it—just wish it were a little more efficient in remembering past details.

Turbo Tax is sufficent, but sometimes aggravating

I've been using TT for around 20 years. Every year, I become aggravated once again at having to input information that TT should already know and carry over to the new year's return. For example, when completing my MT state return, TT asks me to input information such as AGI that it should be able to carry forward and populate automatically for me. Rather than the software doing this, I have to pull out last year's returns and populate information manually. This happens with a number of different pieces of information; not just AGI. Fix this!

Still has some challenges.

Fairly easy to use, but still has a few issues with more complex financial conundrums like 1099-R RMD transfers between financial institution transfers and finding things that may or may not appear on actual printed forms, Case in point box 16a on a printed form is blank. in order to avoid an error for 0 value, I had to open forms and fill in what the actual RMD was because the error said the value couldn't be less than the state tax withheld. Go figure.

TurboTax 2024 Issues

I am not at all impressed with the 'now look' of TurboTax 2024. 1. There is some sort of repetitious loop when inputting my 1099-INT documents. This happens when I choose to not import the information. 2. The "Received from" field is far too narrow to include meaningful information about a specific tax document. This requires scrolling to see the right part of the information. 3. The program window is adjustable in size, but the text and fields do not change in size. I see only two font sizes; 100 and 90 percent. The larger font should be much bigger. The small font is useless. I'm running TurboTax on a Dell Inspiron 16 Plus 7640 with Windows 11.

Turbo Tax not as good as previous years.

The program for 2024 was not a good as for previous years. I mailed my state return. The filing instructions were for an e-file return. No address for sending a mailed return. I had to go to the California FTB and get instructions for the 540 form to get instructions for mailing my return. I also encountered problems when imputing expenses on my Schedule E that I did not encounter in previous years. I also, did not like no disc when purchasing the program.

My turbotax experience was OK

Pretty good for amount of info & complexity that has to be accounted for. Would be great if a correlation between the prompts and associated forms / schedules / worksheets were shown with the prompts. I didn't know where to enter some data in the prompts; so had to go directly to the form to enter the info. Having to do that, increases the likelihood of mistakes, imho.

E-filing loop resolved on Mac OS Desktop Version

the last step e-filing failed and get into a loop you can never get out. Tried e-file federal and mailing for state also fail. ended up mailing both federal and state with mailing. The e-filing fee of $15 paid but not used, I don't know if I can it refunded after losing total confidence with turbo tax. Should have asked for a total refund but don't want to lose all data. Finally problem solved by launching from Application after Desktop version update!!!

Medical expenses zeroed out without explanation

I was confused and disappointed when I spent my time itemizing medical expenses, only to have it zeroed out without explanation by your program. I wasted a day trying to figure it out, and only after reviewing the printed copy, did I discover that my deductions were less than allowed to qualify. It would have been nice to have seen a note from your program that this is what happened and what the dollar amount was required to get my expenses counted.

A bit frustrating at times.

There wasn't a good explanation on why I was forced to enter zero as the number of personal use days for my home listed as an "owner-occupied rental" in which I rented a room and use of common space to a roommate for the full year. It would not let me enter the rental days as 366 days (leap year days) and then also enter the days that I was at the home at the same time (which was part time).

TT let me down

I'm highly perturbed with TT for 2024. Maryland form 502CR was not included. I had to manually download the form and fill out by hand and then I had to USPS mail my Maryland tax return instead of Efile. Why would you not include that form when in all the previous years the form was included. I spend hours on the phone with TT support and Maryland tax support trying to figure this out. I wasted a lot of time. TT should be ashamed of themselves!
